(Rolando Larraz/Las Vegas Tribune) – The Las Vegas Review-Journal, the only daily and “largest newspaper in the state” may be confusing, misleading or misinforming the few people that read its newspaper when it comes to news in politics.
First, the paper makes readers believe that its publisher doesn’t like Sen. Harry Reid since its flamboyant person-in-charge attacks the senator almost every week, or at least when he
On page 3B of the Tuesday, November 10 edition, in an article about a former education board member who plans to run for Harry Reid’s seat in the US Senate, the newspaper mentioned all the candidates in the Republican race except one.
None of the candidates mentioned in the article are in the best position to win, or have the cleanest background according to their record, but the ghostwriter of the article ignored that fact.
Sharron Angle, a four-term Nevada State Assemblywoman from Reno and the first candidate to file with the FEC in August of 2009, was not even mentioned in the article.
Angle has already raised more than $200,000, but the daily newspaper capriciously and erroneously continues to ignore her participation in the race to unseat its alleged foe, Harry Reid.
Three of the other candidates have serious “black marks” against them which should be brought to the public’s attention — if the publication has the intention of keeping the public informed.
But it seems that such has not been the case thus far with that self-proclaimed “only voice in Clark County.” We can only suggest why.
Candidate Danny Tarkanian is a two-time loser in state races with no experience holding an office, (deleted by publisher). Tarkanian, a Republican, (deleted by publisher), but the Review-Journal insisted on keeping its readers ignorant and blindfolded as well as holding back the fact that he donated money to the campaign of Democrat Shelly Berkley.
Another Republican mentioned in the article in which the Review-Journal completely ignored Sharron Angle is Sue Lowden, the former one-time State Senator and former State Republican Party Chairwoman — who contributed to a Democrat campaign!
Lowden, a former Channel 8 news reporter and the wife of a former piano player-turned-casino owner in less than two years seems to be one of the Review-Journal’s favorite candidates for now.
The Review-Journal forgets to inform its readers that Sue Lowden’s husband, Paul, was granted the gaming license exclusively and directly by the Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission who overruled the decision of the Gambling Control Board and the vote of the other four members of the Nevada Gaming Commission that he chaired.
That chairman is today the man that Sue Lowden claims to be running against, US Senator Harry Reid.
The Review-Journal failed to tell its readers that Republican Sue Lowden donated $10,000 to the campaign of Democrat Harry Reid, the man she is supposed to be running against today.
The Review-Journal also forgot to tell its readers that the same former Nevada Gaming Commission Chairman that gave Paul Lowden his gaming license is the same US Senator Sue Lowden is running against today, the same one to whom she made that $10,000 contribution, and the same one that served as the Lowden’s attorney and apparently remains a close friend.
What we assume was a limited space problem did not allow the Review-Journal to tell its readers that Assemblywoman Sharron Angle is a Conservative candidate who believes in the law and the Constitution of the United States of America.
Anyone who wants to learn more about a decent woman who has done much and has worked for the people of Nevada as no one else in the running has can go to www.SharonAngle.com and read her qualifications — because most likely they will not be able to read them in the “largest and the most powerful newspaper“ in the state.

Wow! I did not vote for Reid or Berkley but have given to the NV GOP. This is outrageous to learn our own “leaders” have! I respect Sharron Angel for the fortitude she has shown since I have been a resident of Nevada. I plan to give a little of what I have to her campaign. Thank you for this clarification. Every time I begin to weaken my stance against the RJ something crops up and lets me maintain my stance against subscribing to it. CONSERVATISM is the road to victory.
Ok, so that’s the second time I’ve seen the accusation that Lowden donated to Reid – the only Lowden I can find donating to Reid over at “Open Secrets” is from 20 years ago. Can we get some background on that 20k?
….oops, sorry: you said “10K”.
I, too, am amazed and confused by the lack of coverage Sharron Angle receives from the press, the Nevada GOP, the RNC, and the conservative pundits across the board. I believe she stands out in a crowd as a principled patriot whose views and record deserve to be exposed to the light of day and, consequently, to the scrutiny of voters.
The review journal has had an article about Sharron Angle each week for the past three weeks and you are raising an issue because they left her name out of an article? She has gotten the most press lately from the RJ than any other candidate. This article of yours of course is a joke like most of this campaign has been. People in this state need to look at intent. The intent of this article was to attack Danny Tarkanian for something not even worth mentioning. You called Danny a two time loser, well what was the score on Sharron’s last two campaigns. DUH she is a two time loser as well. The attacks on Lowden’s husband have nothing to do with the campaign, so why even bring them up. If there is an issue with something about Danny’s dad, it has nothing to do with Danny himself.
Only liberals attack conservatives for meaningless crap because they can’t debate the issue. If you want to defend your supposed Constitutional Conservative Pelosi clone, then attack Danny Tarkanian, Sue Lowden and John Ensign for discussing proposed amendments to a health care bill that is totally unconstitutional. Other wise shut up.
While there are a few of us true conservatives, there are a few who are trying, but they are just not there yet. You forgot to tell everyone that when Sharron Angle was in front of people on her town hall meeting in Sept. she was not esposing the unconstitutionality of the bill, she was trying to schmooze an elderly crowd for the vote. Sharron Angle is as phony as a three dollar Pelosi.
If you are going to attack my fellow Republicans, then do it on their actions not those of people related to them. Why not attack me for being the son and grandson of Teamsters. My parents were Democrats just like Danny’s parents, doesn’t mean Danny and I have their same philosophy of our parents. I love my Dad dearly but politics is just not an issue we discuss because he is a repeat of CNN and MSNBC.
The worst thing about this campaign is the fake media like you and Muth and Mushmouth, who hide in your living rooms watching TV and attacking real people who have done a brave thing to go out in the public and try to defend the interests of the American people, while you scum just collect at the bottom of the sink and then put yourself on the internet and claim your real.
Okay now go ahead and attack me on some stupid issue, that only you and your fake brothers can come up with.
Our nation is in the hands of left wing lunatics like Harry Reid, destroying our economy, destroying the nations wealth and surrendering to the rest of the world and you want to attack a basketbal coach and a piano player. The only thing they have in common is that they need two hands to play.
Mike Wiley
Republican Conservative for US Senate.
Sharron Angle’s Paultard supporters are making her out to be unpleasantly strident and shrill. So many Nevada Republicans used to support Reid in his Blue Dog phase, the holier than thou crap will not be well received by the voters Angle will needs.
Mike Wiley,
Your above comment raised some valid points, and had a good one-liner or two, but why do you always shoot yourself in the foot by resorting to angry name-calling? You could have made your points and exited looking like a serious candidate. But you didn’t.
