(Chuck Muth) – Gene Paslov, former Nevada superintendent of Nevada’s failed public schools and liberal lion of Carson City, wrote a column for the Nevada Appeal this weekend which began thusly: “The Congressional Republicans are getting ugly. They refuse to do what they were elected to do – negotiate, compromise and implement legislation.”

And you wonder why the kids coming out of Paslov’s government-run education camps don’t know spit from spam when it comes to U.S. history and civics?

In fact, the following is what members of Congress are elected to do, as per the Oath of Office they take upon being sworn in:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

And as the ObamaCare health reform bill Sen. Reid and his Democrat cohorts are trying to shove down our throats and ram through Congress is clearly unconstitutional, it is the obligation and sworn duty of each and every Republican member of Congress to oppose it with every fiber of their being.

Yet according to Gene Paslov, such Republicans are “are on the lunatic fringe of politics” and he hopes the “citizens of this country and of our state will vote the ‘party of no’ out of office.”

Only in the bizarre leftist minds of aging New Deal and Great Society liberals could honoring one’s Oath of Office be considered “on the lunatic fringe.” And as for being the “party of no,” Republicans are simply doing what far more parents ought to be doing: Saying no when saying no is the right thing to do.

Gene also complains that Republicans “made no contributions to improve the bill.” Which is sort of like complaining that no one offered to put ketchup on a turd sandwich.

The only thing ugly here is the ignorance of a (thankfully) retired education bureaucrat.

It’s only day 4 and I nominate that paragraph of the year!

Paslov continues to resort to name calling and finger pointing at anyone who does not agree with the leftist progressives he holds in so much esteem. His backing of Harry Reid, and the Health Care Bill is a mere example of his delusional thinking.

Where did he get the idea that Republicans are elected to “make compromises”? He seems to be suffering from a delusion.

I saw an old VWmicro bus tooling along a country road today with a bushy haired driver and several youngsters in the back. My wife and I both smiled at the scene and I had a thought. How come the hippies that fought for the right to speak their minds and their freedom all just happened to turn into hankie stomping liberals wanting to take everyones rights away today….this one is like the email going around about picking up a turd by the clean end…
