A Whack Job at Least Has a Job

(Mark Noonan) – So, the Mayor of Reno, alleged Republican Bob Cashell, thinks that Sharron Angle is “too wild” to be our Senator? This is dove tailing with the Reid campaign meme that Sharron Angle, our Republican nominee, is too much of a “whack job” to be our Senator. This is all very interesting.

I some times wonder about those who are deeply entrenched in political life – like Cashell, who is seeking yet another four years of living off the public dime. What are they really on about?

When Cashell first became mayor of Reno, the unemployment rate was less than 5%. Now its all the way up to 13.5%. Cashell has presided over an economic catastrophe in Reno. I’ve been up there, and its sad to see all the closed businesses, foreclosed houses. The wrecked dreams of hard working Nevadans who put their trust in people like Cashell and Reid, and who have now been betrayed.

Sharron Angle is a whack job? Well, then was it Cashell’s calm, cool, collected leadership which brought Reno to the brink of collapse? Or was it Reid’s sensible, reasonable leadership which crafted a Nevada unemployment rate of more than 14%?

Our nation faces a mountain of debt and the risk in just a few years of national bankruptcy. It really has gotten bad and Reid’s only response has been to spend more, tax more, regulate more – as if the cure for snake bite was to drink poison. Cashell’s position is that what Nevada needs is six more years of what Reid has given us for 24.

That isn’t smart. That isn’t reasonable. But if some how or another Reid does represent sensible government, then I say it’s time for a bit of craziness in DC. Perhaps even someone, like Angle, crazy enough to think that the people should be in charge.

Finally, at long last, some one who see Sharron Angle as I do. For Republicans to call her a “Crazy”, or a Whack Job” indicates to me that sorry state of the Republican Party. I have felt great shame while speaking with some of these fake Republicans, and know that the Democrats could not have better allies. It is a good feeling to see a maverick stand up and take the heat. She had another such person in Bill Parson, and I would hope that Bill can remain very active. It is this type of leadership that our nation so badly needs, and without them we might as well lower the Flag and raise that of the United Nations. We lose!

It is amazing to read that a Republican Mayor (clearly a RINO) who should be promoting fiscally conservative programs and conservative values, supporting Reid and the unholy Trinities (Polosi, Reid and Obama) socialist programs.

I did not vote for Angle in the primary. I will vote for her in November. At this point getting Harry sent back to Searchlight is more important than Angle’s alleged extreme views. I want someone in office who will vote to repeal and replace the draconian Health Destruction Act and promote several small one page bills that address the health care problems such as portability, interstate competition, etc. Not create a new unfunded entitlement.

As we are seeing today in national news the Obama take over of health care is going to make the health care that many folks currently enjoy illegal and force them into other government approved programs. Not surprising, that is what was reported before the monstrosity was past by Reid, Berkley and Titus.

Elections have consequences. Take a look at the Supreme Court nominations we have seen from President Obama.

I want someone who will vote against rising deficits, vote to cut taxes, and vote against this proposed Value Added Tax nightmare.

Lets leave Harry in office for another term and say Hello to the new Greece! What is going on in Europe now will be our lot very soon. The only problem with this is that there will be no country from which we can borrow to bail us out of the disaster caused by Harry, and Nancy.

The Devil we know is Harry Reid, I say its time to take a chance on a new devil who may just turn out to be an Angle, I mean an Angel in disguise.

We are not known so well by our friends as we are by our enemies. The slurs and brickbats from these professional politicians from Harry down to Bob will convince the average voter that Sharron Angle must be pretty special and worth supporting if the “good old boys” despise her so. Their petulance, name-calling, dirty tricks and condescension will catapult Ms. Angle into Harry’s job without her having to lift a finger if they keep going. The “machine politicians” do not seem to have woken up to the fact that there has been a major sea change in the Country. Their time is up. And not a minute too soon. I won’t crack open the champagne just yet on the occasion of Senator Angle’s election but I have chosen the bottle.

Let’s be clear about this – Sharon Angle is the Republican Nominee for Senate this November. Beyond that, she is also certainly more extreme in many of her positions than many conservative Republicans. We made our own bed when we voted for her last Tuesday – now we get to sleep in it. Her ideological purity may become her political obituary – or – in an ideal world – the less than pure conservative Republican and Independent voters in this state may come to their senses are realize:

    1. If she doesn’t win, its 6 more years (assuming he doesn’t croak) of slimy Harry, and whatever Sharon Angle’s perceived excesses, they are certainly less eggregious and offensive than his.

    2. If she manages to get herself elected most of her “extreme” ideas are not likely to gain the slightest attention, much less support from other Republicans – and if they ever did – the Democrats would register every illegal alien and homeless person of dubious parentage and vote in numbers guaranteed to bury the conservative agenda for good.

    3. If she manages to get herself elected, even though her extreme ideas are not likely to generate much traction in the Senate, she herself will still be empowered to vote on our behalf – and her vote, without doubt, would far more accurately represent our interests than slimy Harry has or will. She can be an effective senator even if her personally “extreme” ideas are never considered.

    4. Who says reforming social security into something other than a ponzi scheme is extreme.

    5. Who says eliminating the Internal Revenue Code is insane! (I am a tax accountant, I would prefer to drive a stake through the heart of the IRC, pour salt over its grave, and imprison ALL former employees of the U.S. Department of Treasury – which I think is a quite moderate position. Eliminating the tax code is just the final step – the first is stuff the genie of irresponsible expansionist government back into the bottle – and that is quite enough of a problem for any single politician – without tackling the enabling mechanism).

    6. I can’t remember any other “extreme” positions she might have taken – but let’s hope that two of them are to overturn “Obama” care, and to legislatively mandate an overturn to the executive moratorium on off shore oil drilling. Pending # 5 above, she might also consider making the so called Bush Tax Cuts permanent, and taking them a step further (which is true economic stimulus). And if I were the nominee I’d propose a Ronald Reagan – decertifying all public employee unions by legislative fiat, firing every one of them (down to the lowest teacher’s aide in the country), and allowing them to reapply for new jobs subject to social security withholding (true social security reform), much lower wages, defined contribution retirement plans – and 3 paid holidays a year. Also let them pay for their own d*mned CPE, I pay for mine!

    Cheers,

  5. Amen to Tom’s above views.
Sharron is not the whack job that many are portraying her as. I have had numerous occasions to speak with her and I guess, what sets her apart from the moderate republicans in the party (rinos); is that she stills believes in the constitution and what it stands for.
It is time for more politicians like Sharron to get into office, and perhaps the downfall of the republic can be at least delayed, or stalled in a best case scenario.
I would also encourage the voting constituents here in Nevada to pay attention to the Assembly and Senate races right here in our own little piece of the American pie. We have dropped the informed voting ball in the past 10 years and it has hurt our state tremendously. We have a state congress that is made up largely of “Ultra left union bought and paid for democrats”, and “liberal left leaning Raggio republicans”. It is time to take a stand and vote in people that will help our economy, not hinder it. Time to be informed and actually back the candidates that support the constitution, not try to get around it.
