(Karri Bragg) – Two-term Assemblyman Ty Cobb (R-District 26) announced yesterday that he is running for Nevada State Senate.

A fifth generation Nevadan, Ty will be competing in the Republican primary against taxpayer champion Todd Bailey and government employee Ben Kieckhefer – who has already been endorsed by Sen. Bill Raggio and the Republican Senate Caucus – for term-limited Democrat Sen. Randolph Townsend’s seat representing the 4th District in Washoe County.

In his campaign announcement, Cobb emphasized his record in standing up for Nevada taxpayers, including his opposition to the massive $1 billion tax increase package that passed through the state legislature in 2009. He also expressed his eagerness to continue standing up for fiscal conservative principles.

“I want to continue serving Nevadans as a fierce advocate for the working taxpayer,” Cobb said in his press release announcing his candidacy, “scrutinizing how our state collects and spends money. To me, it is my responsibility as a fiscal steward of Nevada’s taxpayers to demand that government live within its means.”
