Attorney General Laxalt encourages Nevadans to take advantage of Free Credit Restoration Assistance

Home Again Program offers one-on-one financial counseling and guidance to all Nevadans statewide

(Office of the Attorney General) – CARSON CITY — Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt recommends Nevadans learn more about free credit restoration services available through the Home Again Program sponsored by his office. Residents are encouraged to be sure they qualify for a mortgage before looking for a new home. Subprime credit scores may not only affect Nevadans’ abilities to purchase a home, but may also determine payment at higher rates for consumer loans or insurance.

“The Home Again Program provides free credit restoration services, home buyer classes and other counseling assistance on credit management,” said Laxalt. “I urge Nevadans in need of credit restoration services to take advantage of this useful tool sponsored by my office.”

Consumers are urged to use free annual credit reports offered by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to ensure their reports are accurate and up to date. Should they find errors in their credit report, consumers may file a dispute with the listed reporting agencies. If the error is not corrected, a complaint may also be filed with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau (CFPB).

The Nevada Attorney General’s Home Again Program is a one-stop, free resource designed to assist consumers in working towards credit restoration or exploring the options and resources available to reach resolutions for their current mortgage needs. In celebration of National Homeownership Month, the Home Again Program is sponsoring a housing fair for aspiring homebuyers or those homeowners seeking options on current programs. The event will take place on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will be located at the Financial Guidance Center’s Education Center at 2650 S. Jones in Las Vegas, NV 89146.
