Carson City Students Take Virtual Field Trip Around World

(Taylor Pettaway, Nevada Appeal) – Aside from reading, another expeditious manner of traveling the world inside the four walls of the room is Google Expedition Pioneer Program. It is Google’s innovation beta tested to second to fifth grade students of Bordewich-Bray and Fremont Elementary.

Under the program, students were able to get to see the places they want to see through a virtual reality viewer while their teacher holds a tab controlling the scenes and places that students choose.

Technology Integration Specialist of the district expressed gratefulness to the program as it helps teachers impart knowledge to students in a more relatable or realistic way. She left a thought-provoking line about the program: “it is about the learning, not the tool.”
