(Gary Duarte of USNEF) – Senator Heller complains “Yucca talk” should include Nevada representation? It does, Congressman Amodei and Hardy! Did you REALLY mean the voice of Nevada’s opposition representation? How much TRUTH is required to challenge character over political rhetoric? How much TRUTH and misrepresentation of FACTS will Nevada’s bureaucracy continue to ignore in representing Nevada’s citizens?
Do any Nevada politicians RESEARCH facts, here are some for review. Governor Sandoval’s administration and everyone in the legislature were invited by the US Nuclear Energy Foundation to a Yucca Educational Symposium in NOV 2013 (documented fact) which was attended by (NV) Congressman Mark Amodei and (IL) Congressman John Shimkus, Nye County Commissioner Dan Schinhofen and several Nevada stakeholders for public education about Yucca Mountain.
The YES Symposium, was held in the interest of providing a balanced presentation and extended an invitation to the Nevada Governor’s office to join the eminent scientists & industry experts on the science, engineering and economics at the symposium Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Atlantis Casino & Resort in Reno. The symposium was originally co-sponsored by the Washoe County GOP and the (RJC) Republican Jewish coalition. Both, through conveyed “messages” were directed to withdraw from participation in this educational event. This is a perfect example of Nevada’s political cohesion and silence the grassroots public.
A spokesperson for the Governor’s office responded by phone call to a USNEF representative stating that, “the Governor declined to attend the symposium as we have no one available on staff, qualified to speak on the issue.” So? Why would the state’s opposition be TRULY open to a Yucca Talk 2015?
Opening remarks, for the 2013 YES symposium were made by NV Congressman Mark Amodei, IL Congressman Shimkus and a video welcome message from Heritage Foundation President, Senator Jim DeMint, including a presentation by Heritage’s VP, Jack Spencer. 90% of this event was video recorded and is available on the USNEF website. How many Nevada elected officials have acquired these educational materials for RESEARCH about Yucca Mountain in an effort to REALLY acquire and educated opinion? Common sense would suggest that such available materials should be reviewed. Knowledge is power, yet in politics we have power without knowledge.
USNEF will challenge anyone to disprove the credibility of the factual statements supported by this foundation. Senator Heller, suggesting that the State of Nevada is not represented is rather illogical. The state, through the political threats and maneuvering of Senator Reid initiated its opposition 30 years ago taking some 97 million dollars in Department of Energy funding for Yucca opposition instead of for parallel studying the Yucca engineering as planned. Every legal challenge has been overruled by the courts in favor of the continuation of the Yucca program.
Yucca Mountain is just one highly documented issue of political verses grassroots representation. One, of only a few, alternatives for the public is to actively engage any and all misguided political maneuvering. We have all seen and must engage too many “promises” before elections and see them “reversed” after elections.
Mankind’s TRUTH, HUMANITY and CHARACTER are under attack.
USNEF is a non-profit Nevada Corporation educating grassroots Nevada about nuclear energy technology and the Yucca Mountain Project. To know more about USNEF, visit www.USNuclearEnergy.org.
