(John Burke | Better Nevada PAC) – Nevada’s Democrat Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui has spent her political career opposing school choice, consistently standing against efforts to protect parental choice in education. But now, facing a tough re-election contest, she’s trying to fool Nevadans.
In a new interview with The Nevada Independent, Jauregui claimed that the government shouldn’t “disrupt the education” of students who are currently receiving Opportunity Scholarships, which provide school choice options to low-income families across the state.
But there’s just one problem with that claim…
Jauregui already voted to “disrupt the education” of those children when she, along with her fellow Democrats, voted last summer to defund Opportunity Scholarships. When given the option to ensure the education of hundreds of children was not disrupted, she voted against them.
Jauregui wasn’t alone in trying to rewrite her stance on Opportunity Scholarships.
Her colleague Shea Backus also voted to defund the program, but she also recently made a similar claim to The Nevada Independent. Clearly neither of them wants to be honest with voters about their records.
Jauregui and her colleagues have routinely put partisan politics before doing what’s best for our kids. Now they’re trying to rewrite their records to fool Nevada voters.
It won’t work, and they’ll be held accountable at the ballot box on November 5th.
