(Fred Weinberg, Penny Press) She flat out lied when she said that she told Americans the truth about her email issues and then she said that was what FBI Director James Comey said. And she did this in the face of a video clip of Comey telling a Congressional Committee under oath that, in point of fact, what the Democrat presidential candidate told America was NOT true.
We’re not talking about something open to interpretation.
You cannot interpret what the FBI Director actually said. It’s recorded on video.
So, instead, Clinton first tried a trick which worked very well for Adolf Hitler.
The big lie.
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
That’s how Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, explained the technique which was first referenced by Hitler in his 1925 book Mein Kampf, to describe the use of a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.”
Fortunately, in 2016, it’s much easier to show a lie for what it is and Goebbels’ technique is virtually impossible to sustain in a political campaign.
So, less than a week later, Hillary had to come up with a new explanation.
In front of a friendly audience at the National Association of Black and Hispanic Journalists (imagine an organization called the National Association of White Journalists) Clinton was asked if she misrepresented Comey’s conclusions in recent interviews she gave. “I may have short-circuited it, and for that I will try to clarify,” she responded.
Chances are that technique—call it a modified big lie—will fare no better with the actual people who go to the polls and vote.
And yet, she has the temerity to say that Donald Trump is not fit to be President?
Hillary Clinton represents a vote for keeping things the way they are. An America where any politician named Clinton can tell a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.” You know, Hillary Clinton’s America.
I was working for ABC News during the 2008 campaign and spent a bit of time in Las Vegas on the bus with Hillary.
Every third sentence from this woman started with, “I have a plan”.
The problem with all of her plans was that even then, they involved spending money we don’t have on free things for people who, in some cases, came here illegally to get free stuff. Just like last week.
The same thought occurred to me in January 2008 on the bus that occurred to me while I listened to her at the Democrat convention in 2016.
That this woman hasn’t had an original thought since before 1992.
If you think America’s problems can be solved by the Jimmy Carter of 2016, she’s your man.
