{"id":5049,"date":"2010-05-05T05:19:49","date_gmt":"2010-05-05T12:19:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nevadanewsandviews.com\/?p=5049"},"modified":"2010-05-06T13:48:35","modified_gmt":"2010-05-06T20:48:35","slug":"number-of-active-voters-down-democrats-still-lead-in-registrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nevadanewsandviews.com\/number-of-active-voters-down-democrats-still-lead-in-registrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of Active Voters Down, Democrats Still Lead in Registrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>(Phillip Moyer\/Nevada News Bureau)<\/em> &#8211;  According to data released by the Nevada Secretary of State yesterday, the number of total registered Democrats only rose by 58 in April, fewer than the number of new registered members of Nevada\u2019s largest third party, the Independent American Party, which has 374 more registered voters. This is also well under the 710 new nonpartisan voters and 1,268 new Republican voters.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the Democratic Party received almost ten times as many new voters \u2013 575.  In the same month, there were 945 new Republican voters, 851 new nonpartisan voters, and 513 new Independent American Party voters.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the Democrats have more registered voters in Nevada than any other party, and there are 23 percent more Nevadans registered as Democrats than Republicans \u2013 579,399 Democrats to the Republicans\u2019 469,967. There are 211,838 total non-partisan voters in Nevada, and 59,026 Independent American Party voters.<\/p>\n<p>These numbers include active voters along with inactive voters \u2014 those who are still able to vote in Nevada, but either didn\u2019t vote in the last Federal election, or have been determined to have moved outside of the county where they registered.<\/p>\n<p>The number of active voters in Nevada listed by the Secretary of State, however, fell across all parties in April, with 14,488 fewer active voters than in March.  This comes from a recent update of voter rolls by Washoe County, which found that 19,065 voters in the county are now inactive.
