Sun endorses Democrat for state/federal office. Yawn.

Sun endorses Reid. Zzzzzzzzzzz. (Look for an endorsement of Rory for governor sometime in the near future.)

Hardly earth-shattering stuff. What is remarkable, however, is the text of the endorsement itself.

There is none of the one-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hand weighing of the candidates. It reads as if it was written by the Reid campaign itself. Some quotes are exactly the same as quotes that appear in Reid campaign ads. In both the subhead and the body, the piece condemns Angle for her “extremism” or “extreme views”, just as many Reid campaigns spots do.

It speaks of some of the controversial statements Angle has made and claims “[s]he has an alarming tendency to be reckless in her comments” while completely omitting any mention of the many gaffes Reid has committed.

It admits that “these are not normal times”, yet ignores the fact that Reid’s popularity in the Silver State has been abysmally-low for several years.

It celebrates Reid’s “values” but fails to mention how he has championed an agenda, including such unpopular measures as ObamaCare and the explosion of federal spending that has occurred during his tenure as Senate majority leader, that is anathema to most Nevadans.

Contrast this piece with the recent endorsement of Angle by the Review-Journal.

That the Sun has endorsed Harry Reid is not even worthy of mention. The fact that the endorsement sounds as though it were written by Reid’s campaign staff is.
