Buck Enters CD1 Race with Poll-Tested Platitudes (Yawn)

Nevada State Sen. Carrie Buck (R-Clark) officially announced her candidacy today for Congressional District 1, currently misrepresented by Democrat Congresswoman Dina “I’m Not Happy” Titus.

Let’s just say I’m underwhelmed.

“I’ve fought to turn around failing schools, empower parents, and bring real accountability to government,” she wrote on X this morning. “I’m ready to bring the same to Washington, because our families deserve a leader who gets results and puts Nevadans first.”

Ugh. Typical, warmed-over political pablum, surely written by some play-it-safe, content-free consultant.

I mean, when was the last time you were sitting around the dinner table and said to your wife, “Honey, you know what we really need? We really need someone who will empower parents and bring real accountability to government.”

“You’re absolutely right, Snookums,” she replies. “If only we could get a leader who gets results and puts Nevadans first.”

*Snore*.

Republicans are gonna have to dynamite Titus out of this seat. The same ‘ol/same ol’ stale political rhetoric of the DC establishment ain’t gonna cut it. Those days – especially in the Trump era – are over.

And, frankly, there’s NO EXCUSE. Just a quick inquiry on ChatGPT would have come up with far better messaging.

Something like: “We’re going to give power back to the parents – not the unions, not the bureaucrats – the parents. And we’re going to make government actually do its job for once.”

Or maybe: “We’re going to put parents first and clean out the mess in government. It’s broken, it’s corrupt, and we’re going to fix it fast.”

You only get one chance to make a good first impression. And Sen. Buck’s X announcement this morning doesn’t exactly instill optimism that she has what it’s gonna take to dethrone Queen Dina.

By the way, two other GOP candidates – Bobby Khan and Jim Marchant – have already announced for this seat. The three – maybe more – will square off in the primary next June.

Let the games begin.
