I attended congressional candidate Bobby Khan’s campaign kickoff event last night – which was unlike anything I’ve seen from ANY other announced candidate thus far.
Quite impressive – especially since vandals broke into the venue the night before and destroyed all the A/V equipment while trashing the place.
Khan’s peeps put Humpty Dumpty back together again in less than 24 hours.
There are those out there spouting the usual “conventional wisdom” that Khan is “unelectable” because he’s a convicted felon – you know, like a certain United States president.
Discounting his campaign based on that is political naivete.
They’re the same “experts” and “professionals” who said a mob lawyer could never get elected mayor of Las Vegas or a “brothel owner” could never get elected to the Nevada Legislature.
Most who make such a blanket assertion have absolutely no idea what Khan was even convicted of, the circumstances surrounding it, or that it was Obama’s DOJ’s that targeted him.
Granted, campaigning with a felony record is gonna be a challenge. But if handled correctly, it can be overcome – and maybe even become as asset.
The fact is, Khan lives and breathes marketing, sales, and PR – which is what a campaign is really all about.
And he speaks in the plain-spoken language of the average voter – you know, like a certain United States president.
For example, in his opening promo video, Khan declares: “When the government says, ‘It’s for your own good,’ bend over, because you’re about to get screwed.”
How many politicians today speak plainly like that? And how many voters will immediately identify with that?
Khan’s also coined a nickname for his Democrat opponent, Rep. Dina Titus – you know, like a certain United States president.
“DINOTITUS: A creature that’s been in politics longer than most of us have been alive.”
Of course, before he can get to “Dinotitus,” he’s gonna have to win the GOP primary next June against the GOP establishment’s anointed candidate, State Sen. Carrie Buck.
And I don’t think Sen. Buck and her campaign are ready for the buzzsaw bearing down on them. Here’s a preview of things to come…
Hoo -boy. This is the buzz saw Carrie Buck is facing in the GOP primary. All her establishment horses & all her establishment men are gonna have a tough time putting a campaign against him again. pic.twitter.com/L8TRPghVZu

No shrinking violet is he.
The event also had “celebrity appeal” – a powerful marketing tool – including taped remarks from “Rampage” Jackson (loved him as B.A. Baracus in the A-Team remake) and live remarks from actress Dawn Olivieri from “Yellowstone.”
But what really struck me…
The crowd.
Most GOP events are filled to the brim with lily-white political activists – not that there’s anything wrong with that.
But Khan’s event last night drew a noticeably diverse crowd of all shapes, sizes, and colors who you normally wouldn’t see at a political event.
So the rumors of Bobby Khan’s candidacy being “dead on arrival” are greatly exaggerated.
Doesn’t mean he’s going to win. But it does mean that anyone who underestimates him and his chances are being, at best, premature.
This is definitely a race to keep your eyes on with an open mind. It could be the most interesting race of the entire 2026 election cycle.
You heard it here first.
