Leis, Luau, and Local Leaders: NRC’s Summer Bash Was A Blast!

The Nevada Republican Club turned up the island spirit on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, with its Summer Bash Luau at the Ahern Pool and Lobby.

From the moment guests walked in, the evening felt like a family-style celebration; guests received leis upon checking in, there was a delicious Hawaiian buffet, and plenty of friendly conversation.

A Hawaiian Welcome

Every guest was greeted with a colorful lei upon arrival, a perfect touch that set the tone for the evening.

Hula dancers performed to traditional island music poolside, creating a delightful island vibe and entertaining the crowd.

The Hawaiian buffet was a highlight, featuring grilled chicken and fresh pineapple, broccoli beef, and sweet rolls. The buffet line doubled as a networking spot where folks got to talk politics, swap stories, and share laughs.

Familiar Faces and Big Winners

Several recognizable local names came out to show their support, including (but not limited to) Alan Hedrick, Carrie Cox, Chris and Lloyd Benson, George Harris, Jeff Gunter, Jill Douglass, Marty O’Donnell, Michelle Barnes, Pauline Lee, Sherry Rickard, and Suzanne Spinelli.

Among a star-studded group of people such as this its hard to keep track of everyone in attendance; I do apologize if I left anyone out!

Anika Stephens just moved here from North Dakota, and I’ve been enjoying these events even more since she started attending.

She’s new to the area and has been popping up to meet like-minded people she can make friends with in Sin City. Looking forward to seeing more of you, Anika!

Among the evening’s highlights was a raffle drawing for a two-night stay at the Ahern.

The lucky winner was Henderson City Councilwoman Monica Larson; we’re hoping she invites us to her cabana when she decides to cash in!

We were fortunate enough to enjoy Bobby Khan’s cabana – while he couldn’t be in attendance, we made good use of it with new and old friends alike.

A Community Gathering

At $30 for members and $40 for non-members, the event was accessible and well-attended, with proceeds helping the Club continue its work to bring conservatives together across Clark County and the state.

The cash bar kept drinks flowing as the sun went down, and by the end of the evening, the poolside crowd was buzzing with excitement about upcoming elections and community involvement.

Looking Ahead

With election season heating up, nights like this help build the connections and camaraderie that fuel campaign victories.

For those who missed it, there’s always the next Nevada Republican Club gathering – hope to see you there!
