Nevada Candidates Join Jim Jordan For Intimate Breakfast

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of attending a private breakfast engagement with Congressman Jim Jordan, graciously hosted by Ken Goodman and Mike Meyer in their beautiful home.

The main topic of the morning was relations between the U.S. and Israel. Congressman Jordan touched on several hot-button issues.

The event drew several local figures, including Bobby Khan, candidate for Nevada’s 1st Congressional District; Erica Neely, candidate for Assembly District 9; Lisa Cole, the current Assemblywoman representing District 4; and Dave Marlon, candidate for Las Vegas City Council in Ward 1.

Their presence underscored how closely national debates over speech, education, and foreign policy intersect with Nevada’s own political landscape.

Jordan noted that lawmakers are looking into how NGOs and elite universities may be undermining U.S. interests, particularly when it comes to foreign student visas and campus activity tied to illegal behavior.

The Congressman also addressed what he called an ongoing fight over free speech.

He recalled the Biden administration’s short-lived “Disinformation Governance Board” and pointed to newer laws in Europe and the UK that give governments more power to police online content.

Quoting Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he reminded the audience that “it’s never the good guys who are for censorship.”

On foreign policy, Jordan reiterated support for Israel and questioned recent moves by France, the UK, and Ireland to recognize a Palestinian state.

He suggested the United States should use trade negotiations and its influence at the United Nations to push back on such proposals.

He praised President Trump’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and highlighted the Abraham Accords as a major step toward regional peace.

Jordan also spoke on U.S. financial support for Israel, which he described as relatively small compared to broader foreign aid spending.

While much of the discussion focused on national and international issues, the presence of Nevada candidates tied the event back to local politics.

Bobby Khan, running in the competitive 1st Congressional District, has made foreign policy and education central themes of his campaign.

Erica Neely, seeking a seat in Assembly District 9, has emphasized school reform and parental rights, issues echoed in the Congressman’s remarks about universities.

Lisa Cole, currently serving in Assembly District 4, continues to play a role in shaping education policy in Carson City.

And Dave Marlon, a candidate for Las Vegas City Council in Ward 1, has campaigned on public safety and accountability – topics that connect with concerns about foreign aid and terrorism raised during the discussion.

As Nevada prepares for the 2026 election cycle, the themes discussed – education, free speech, foreign policy, and government accountability – will remain front and center.
