Nevada Democrats are in a state of ecstasy over Nevada’s comparatively high June 2025 unemployment number and have been yapping at Gov. Joe Lombardo’s heels over it.
These people revel in others’ misery as long as it advances their political agenda. But here’s the thing…
June’s unemployment number in Nevada was 5.8 percent. And according to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal yesterday, that “was third highest among the 50-plus metro areas with at least a million people.”
Democrats pounced. “Nevada has been the state with the highest unemployment in the nation for 12 straight months,” they trumpeted on social media.
Now let’s hop into the Wayback Machine…
In June 2021, Nevada’s governor was Democrat Steve “Shutdown” Sisolak at the same point of his term. Guess what the unemployment rate was?
9.6 percent – almost DOUBLE what it is today and highest in the country.
Don’t recall Dems bellyaching over that. What a bunch of hypocrites.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
Rep. Steven Horsford (D-EI) is whining that he wasn’t allowed into an ICE facility in Pahrump when he showed up uninvited and unannounced and demanding an audience.
He gave them the ol’ “Don’t you know who I am?!!” routine, flashing his congressional ID. It was pure political theater. He was probably hoping to get arrested so he could use it for fundraising.
Hmm. I wonder what would happen if you or I showed up at his congressional office uninvited and without an appointment and demanded to see him?
And lastly…
Congratulations to my friend and political sparring partner Steve Sebelius on being inducted into the Nevada Newspaper Hall of Fame!
He and I don’t always agree, but we’re never disagreeable. Probably has something to do with the mugs of beer we’re both armed with during important policy discussions.
