O’Neill’s tax hike vote a “disgrace”

O’Neill’s tax hike vote a “disgrace”
N&V Staff
June 6, 2015

(by Bill Miller) – Whatever Asemblyman PK O’Neill (R-Carson City) says about voting for the largest tax hike in Nevada history will be a joke. He has demonstrated what all tax-and-spend liberals know how to do. Pete Livermore is rolling over in his grave for recommending this progressive Democrat masquerading as a Republican.

His letter of explanation for voting for the tax hike is more BS to cover his a**. He is a disgrace to the public he swore to serve. The only reason businesses come to Nevada is because of the tax structure.

If you had 1,000 well-educated men and women standing on the sidewalks, and Nevada had an onerous tax structure, do you really think all these companies would beat  a path to our door.

Really? Really?

I notice in his excuse, that he believes a modest pay increase for state employees is deserved. What about a modest increase for private sector employees who have suffered much greater reductions in pay and oftentimes a loss of their jobs due to this recession?

He chooses to ignore that the private sector funds his beloved state employees. He says the modified business tax provides more stability.

Once again he is stating that the government knows how to spend businesses’ money better than business.  Another joke. The government has never had to make a profit, and as a result there is no consequence for making a bad decision.

He says there’s much about the bill that he doesn’t like. Then why in the hell did he vote for the whole thing?

He states that this tax bill will be better for businesses. How is taking more money from business good for business?

He says he’s been assured by Sandoval that they will have accountability that can be measured and verified. What a crock. This is the same Sandoval who had three opportunities to sunset taxes, and decided in his last term he could get away with making them permanent.

PK says he will be watching and monitoring reforms very closely. Another joke. He has no control over how the money is spent from this moment on.

While I will not argue the importance of Western Nevada college, I will say that it is impossible to continue to fund a public sector organization at the current rate, while the private sector that is the money generator for the public sector has seen as much as a 50% reduction in revenue over the last seven years.

PK also likes to quote Ronald Reagan. Here’s a quote from Ronald Reagan: “You can’t tax business. Business doesn’t pay taxes. It only collects taxes.”

And where does it collect all this tax revenue from? As always all taxes are regressive, impacting all citizens of this great country who earn a living and pay taxes to the state and federal government.

So once again, in the wisdom of the progressives, who obviously always know more than the citizenry, we have burdened them with one more straw that will eventually break the camel’s back.

Obviously this is just one man’s opinion, but an opinion that I believe is shared by many in Carson City.

Thank God we still have a Constitution and a First Amendment that guarantees the right to free speech, no matter if you agree or not. Feel free to distribute this where you think it will do the most good.
