The “Both Sides” Lie: How Left-Wing Threats Forced Us Into Hiding in Las Vegas

In responding to a question on Tuesday about Utah Gov. Cox’s message of political non-violence, President Trump rightfully responded: “I agree 100% – but most of the violence is on the Left.”

I agree 100%.

Even the mere threat of violence is enough to disrupt conservative events. I know from personal experience.

At our 2017 Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, our last-minute featured keynote speaker for the closing dinner was former Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

This was the same conference where Charlie Kirk spoke.

Anyway, when word got out of Arpaio’s participation, the lefties took to social media and began organizing a protest on the Strip in front of the host hotel – the now-demolished Tropicana.

The rhetoric and threats on those posts were so severe that we were forced to beef up security inside the conference area. But it was also so bad that Metro felt compelled to get involved.

It told the hotel they were going to have to beef up security outside the venue on the streets and sidewalks, as well.

It was even suggested they would have to dispatch riot officers on horseback and position snipers on the roof!

The cost for which we were advised WE’D have to eat.

Well, that was an expense we couldn’t afford – which, of course, is exactly what the lefties wanted.

So instead, we were forced to move the dinner to a secret, off-property, undisclosed location and chartered buses to transport the dinner attendees from the Tropicana to the new venue.

That was an additional cost, as well, but not as much as beefing up Metro’s security detail on the Strip.

And to further throw off the crazies who were trying to find out where the event was moved to, we booked the dinner under the “Harris-Muth Wedding Reception” rather than the Conservative Leadership Conference.

The dinner went off without a hitch. A good time was had by all. But we never should have been forced into such a disruptive change just because the left was threatening violence.

And that was EIGHT years ago.

So don’t even dare try telling me “both sides” are equally guilty. It’s not just a lie; it’s a damned lie.
