Vegas Protesters Say “No Kings”… Critics Say “We Know”

Posted By

According to KLAS 8 News Now, Indivisible Las Vegas and 18 partner groups are hosting a “No Kings” rally tomorrow near the federal courthouse. It runs from 4 to 7 p.m., with speeches, performers, and a march through downtown.

Organizers say it’s about civic action and protecting democracy.

“No Kings”?

On their event page, organizers describe the rally as a protest against “the tyrant occupying the White House.”

But America doesn’t have a king.

We don’t have crowns. No thrones. No royal families running the country.

We have elections.

People vote. Votes get counted. Winners take office.

And then, a few years later, voters get another shot if they want to change direction.

You don’t have to like the outcome. But calling an elected president a “tyrant occupying the White House” is a stretch.

Traffic, Detours, and Daily Life

While the speeches are happening, regular folks in Las Vegas will be dealing with something a lot less symbolic.

Traffic.

Las Vegas Boulevard will be shut down on the east side between Bridger and Bonneville starting around 3:30 p.m.

Who’s Organizing This?

This event didn’t just pop up overnight.

Organizers say they worked for months with city officials to secure the street closure.

They’re bringing in about 100 volunteers, plus medics and marshals. They’re even raising around $9,500 to cover costs.

And the groups involved, like the ACLU of Nevada and Battle Born Progress, aren’t exactly neutral observers.

Again, nothing wrong with that. But it does raise a couple skeptical eyebrows.

Is this a display of “people power”… or a carefully staged political production by power players?

Keeping It Civil—At Least in Theory

Organizers are emphasizing that the rally will be peaceful.

They’re instructing people to follow the law, avoid conflict, and leave weapons at home.

Still, tone matters. And words like “tyrant” and “fascist” don’t exactly cool things down.

What Most Nevadans Are Really Focused On

Here’s what Nevadans care about right now.

Gas prices. Housing costs. Affording groceries.

Those are kitchen-table issues. Real-life stuff.

A rally built around criticizing a king that doesn’t really exist feels a little disconnected.

That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t protest. We all have that right in America.

But people also have the right to judge the message.

At the end of the day, this country still runs on ballots, not bullhorns.

You want change? You show up in November.

Not just on Las Vegas Boulevard.
