She criticizes the mainstream media for ignoring positive military achievements and focusing on fabricated rumors around Trump’s supposed health issues. Douglass also criticizes Dina Titus for taking credit for $1.5 million in federal funding for airport upgrades, while she voted against bills that secured the funding. She’s chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party and a candidate for the 37th Assembly District. Good morning Jill.
Jill Douglass  0:29
Hey. Good morning, Alan.
Alan Stock  0:32
How you doing?
Jill Douglass  0:33
I’m doing great.
Alan Stock  0:35
Excellent. Let’s talk about some of these issues that you’ve been writing about. One is very important, what should be to Nevadans. And that’s something that went on with Zoran Mamdani. And he was, you know, he’s been promoting fast and free city busses. He’s promoting free everything. Everything’s free. You know, it’s like the Bernie Sanders world. It’s all free. Everything’s free. So I mean, but that’s what? And you say, Well, that’s all fine and dandy for New York, which it ain’t working right now, by the way, he’s already saying that the plan cannot move forward right away. All this will happen someday, but in the meantime, you’re saying that this should be a warning to Nevadans. Why is that?
Jill Douglass  1:23
Well, listen, you know, it’s a it’s an example of promises kept and broken, right? Unlike our president, promises made, promises kept. Yeah, you have to go back to the basics. Where does the government get their money from, taxing people. And when people start promising free stuff, it’s like, where is this going to come from? Because somebody has to pay for it. And what he what he quickly realized, is that the that, like the bus system, already was in financial trouble. It was an impossibility. And so, you know, when you when you bring it to the local level here, one of the reasons I’m running is I’m a low tax government accountability, you know, limited government individual, and I think that you know, we need to rein in government spending and beware of anyone who tells you they’re going to give you something free. It has to be paid for. There is nothing that’s free.
Alan Stock  2:33
Ronald Reagan reminders the us of that many times while he was the president, and while he was, even, for that matter, a governor of California, that is, you know, some of the most dangerous words you can think of the English language is, Hi, I’m here from the government and I’m here to help you out. It’s the government that really caused a lot of these problems and but then you have people like Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, socialists, you know. I mean, here you have Susie Lee, Aaron Ford, in our own state, you know, who believe that government is the answer and we need more, more government, bigger government. You have these people who are out there running for a bigger government and wanting us to pay more taxes to, you know, to be able to support their programs.
Jill Douglass  3:19
Right, and it has disastrous effects, you know. And free sounds good until you’re the one who’s having to pay for it, right? And until it’s your things that are being taken it simply doesn’t work well.
Alan Stock  3:33
Also, as Margaret Thatcher so aptly pointed out, that socialism works great until you run out of the other person’s money. I mean, that’s, you know what she said, and she was absolutely right. So people have got to be aware of that, even though they make a lot of promises and things are going to be free. You know, there’s another cliche I’m going to throw out, and that is, there’s no such thing is a free lunch. You always pay for something one way or another. You’re going to pay for whatever you get, and people think it’s just coming to you free. And the truth is it ain’t.
Jill Douglass  4:12
It’s not.
Alan Stock  4:12
And we’ll talk about something else too. And this is near and dear to my heart, because I work in the media. I’m probably I’m in a different aspect of the media than the so called heritage or mainstream media. But you know, when we have issues, when we have success in our military efforts, especially against Iran, what’s going on? It should be touted as such, and instead, the media chooses to look at other things than the success that we have when troops risk their own lives. They just, they just cannot, they absolutely refuse to give Donald Trump credit for anything positive whatsoever the wars that he’s ended so far since he’s been President during this second term, they never talk. I mean, that’s they ignore that. Nobody talks about that. I mean, they ignore any success that he has. And, you know, I mean, it’s like we’re not only fighting the Democrats who are fighting Republicans, but they’re we’re fighting the heritage so called mainstream media as well.
Jill Douglass  5:19
Right? The collusion of the mainstream media to not actually report you know news, especially when it concerns you know, our military, our brave military, and this daring rescue mission, you would think every, everybody you know, on pins and needles wanting to watch this and this heroic effort. And, you know, get our troops and and all that took place. Instead, they start reporting on, you know, made up things like, Oh, we think Trump is in the hospital. Or they divert from something so, so critically important that we should be celebrating the fact that we have a strong military, the fact that they pulled off this daring mission and they rescued this pilot. I mean, this is to be celebrated. This is a wonderful thing, but they all have Trump derangement syndrome, and they they just cannot bring it, bring themselves to report on something that can be celebrated.
Alan Stock  6:21
Yeah, no matter what he does, it’s they don’t. And you’re right, they do, they I’ve seen this switch over to, you know, big things happen, like the rescue and some one of the reporters were saying, How’s his health, by the way, how’s Trump’s health? Something going on? Is he going to the hospital? I mean, nobody ever talked to the that’s BS, none of that ever happened. But it’s like, let’s just make anything up at all to deflect from any success that Trump has had.
Jill Douglass  6:52
Correct. It’s a shame. It’s just a real shame, because that was, that was really we have such a well trained military, and the things that they do and accomplish, and this is just, you know, one of them, we should just all be in awe and very thankful that that we have the safety and security that we have in our country, you know, because we have such a such a strong military and to watch, watch the mainstream media collude to spin something, create something and that they know is not true, to divert from things that we should be celebrating. It’s just, it’s just really upsetting, you know?
Alan Stock  7:40
And unfortunately, we also have a well trained mainstream media that like to react with anti Trump hysteria every chance they get. And that’s the thing as well. Yeah. All right, stay with me. I’ve got a few of things I would like to cover. We’re talking with Jill Douglas. She’s chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, candidate for the 37th assembly district. And of course, she’s here on behalf of Nevada news and views Thursday. We’re going to continue in just a moment right here on Vegas at eight and a good morning. Great to be with us on this big Thursday morning. It’s Nevada news and views Thursday, of course, and we do want you to be able to Nevada news and views calm to find out more about the great reporting and editorializing that Chuck Muth has created over at Nevada news and views.com  joining us this morning. On behalf of Nevada news and views is Jill, Douglas, Chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party, candidate for the 37th assembly district. And Jill, once again, thank you so much for joining us. I appreciate it, and look forward to you becoming the next assembly woman from the 37th we could use you up in Carson City this next legislative session, which is next year. I do want to talk about article you wrote about representative Dina Titus, who still has her accent after being here. How many years she been here? And yeah, she announced that she got 1.5 million in federal funding for gate upgrades at Harry Reid international Park International Airport. And you know, she thinks that’s a great deal. And you wrote about the fact and said, well, great headlines, but in reality, and ain’t that big of a deal?
Jill Douglass  9:27
Yeah, I mean, 1.5 million for airport upgrades, like, when you really think about that, that’s not much money. And that doesn’t go very far. I’m in the airport a lot. And, I mean, they’ve just gone through some major, major upgrades of flooring and the whole baggage area. And, you know, there’s been a ton of upgrades. So what are we getting? What’s going to happen with the 1.5 million? I mean at best, you’re talking about some planning, some very minor upgrades, you know, some early stage type work, because it’s not, it’s not going to be major, it’s not going to be anything that probably somebody would even notice. It’s not building new terminals. We have plenty of gates, so, you know, while she’s trying to tout this money, you know, we have a bigger problem, which is, you know, the overall federal funding that that, that they’re standing in the way of and, you know, the TSA workers. And you know, the real big issue is, you know, the long TSA lines and the delays and the staffing shortages and those are all tied to, you know, the federal funding fight that’s going on in Washington that so she is, you know, she is preventing the funding that should be taking place where it really matters, which is the security,
Alan Stock  11:06
yeah, but the 1.5 million may bring a couple of extra candy machines. You’re forgetting about that.
Jill Douglass  11:12
Well, it may.
Alan Stock  11:13
It might, actually. And here’s a deal about her. What she proposed she’s she, you know, appeared to support this idea of this $1.5 million but did she actually support it? And it turns out that the some of the funding that it appeared, that she was touting appeared in bills that wait for it she voted against. So while she was touting the money, she’s still voting against it, even though it wound up passing and coming to the airport here, you know, in Las Vegas. I mean, talk about trying to take credit for, you know, for your misdeeds and someone else’s deeds, positive deeds. It’s amazing. I mean, this woman, she’s got, no she’s got you know, no problem with trying to, you know, hook her her wagon onto someone else’s success. What – she’s an odd, odd, odd duck.
Jill Douglass  12:15
Yeah, I mean, it’s, she needs to go and, and the way they the way they spin. The these things is, is it’s comical. And you know, she’s an example of, literally, why you need term limits. It’s time for her to go. It’s time for her to go.
Alan Stock  12:36
We do need term limits. We’ve got term limits on almost every other office you can imagine, from the President on down, governor, mayor, you know, commissioners, everything. And we don’t have term limits on Congress and the in the US Senate, and we need that, you know, two, three terms, and get out of there. Our founding fathers intended to be a lifetime job. I’m up against the clock, but I want to remind everyone that, of course, you are running for the 37th assembly district, as well as being the chairwoman of the Clark County Republican Party. Jill Douglass, great person to vote for 37th assembly district. And again, she’s here on behalf of Nevada news and views, and you can always find more about Nevada views by going to Nevada news and views.com.
