They Were Deported for Drugs – Their Baby Is Now a U.S. Citizen

And That's Just the Beginning: Your Tax Dollars Are Paying for It!

Even the New York Times Had to Admit It

A couple from Honduras was deported from the United States after a drug possession charge.

They went home.

But when the wife was six months pregnant, they made a calculated decision.

They would come back.

Not because jobs were waiting.

Not because they were fleeing danger.

Not because they dreamed of building a new life here.

According to the Times, they illegally crossed the border again for one reason – and one reason only:

To make sure their baby was born on American soil and automatically received American citizenship.

It Worked

That baby – born to two people who had already been deported once for drug charges – is now a full American citizen with all the rights and privileges that entails.

Your tax dollars will help pay for his education, his healthcare, his future.

His parents have been deported again.

But Here's Where It Gets Worse

Because their son now holds American citizenship, the family may eventually have legal pathways back to the United States that would never have existed had they stayed in Honduras.

That's not a side effect of the system.

That's the system working exactly as currently designed.

And that's precisely why critics argue the current rules reward people for violating our immigration laws.

The prize wasn't just citizenship for the child.

The prize was a permanent foothold in America.

That's why millions of Americans believe the birthright citizenship loophole must be closed – permanently.

A Court Ruling Won't Fix This

This issue is front and center right now because the Supreme Court is reviewing President Trump's executive order on birthright citizenship.

The Court could rule any day now.

Which means the window to show Congress where Americans stand is right now.

Not next month. Not after the ruling. Now.

Many Americans hope the Court upholds the executive order.

Most experts expect it to be struck down.

But here's the hard truth nobody wants to say out loud:

A court ruling will not permanently solve this problem.

If the Court strikes down the executive order, the loophole stays exactly where it is today.

If the Court upholds the executive order, the next president can reverse it with the stroke of a pen – on Day One.

That's not a solution. That's a delay.

The Founders Gave Us the Answer

The Founders anticipated moments like this.

When a constitutional question is too important to leave to courts or executive orders, they gave us a permanent tool:

A constitutional amendment.

That's why Citizen Outreach has launched a national petition urging Congress to pass a Citizenship Amendment and close the birthright citizenship loophole once and for all.

Congress won't move until Americans demand it. Demand it now.

It's Not Just About Illegal Immigration

And understand – this isn't just about people crossing the border illegally.

It's also about birth tourism.

According to a Center for Immigration Studies analysis of CDC birth records, an estimated 33,000 babies are born in the United States every year to foreign nationals on tourist visas.

Women who came here specifically so their children would collect American citizenship.

Some pay thousands of dollars to so-called “birth tourism agencies” that handle all the arrangements.

Some book maternity packages at American hospitals before they ever board the plane.

And that's just birth tourists on tourist visas.

When you include students, guest workers, and other temporary visa holders, the total climbs to an estimated 72,000 citizenship births every year.

Births where the only qualification was showing up.

But the goal is always the same.

Obtain U.S. citizenship for the child. Secure a foothold in America. Keep the door open for whatever comes next.

No other nation on earth hands out a privilege this valuable so casually.

Yet under the current system, all it takes is landing on the right patch of soil at the right moment.

Many Americans believe citizenship should mean more than geography.

It should reflect a genuine connection to this country. Respect for our laws. Commitment to our future.

Washington Has Debated This for Decades. The Loophole Is Still Open.

Congress will not act unless Americans demand action – loudly, visibly, and in numbers too large to ignore.

That's where you come in.

Every signature sends a message.

Every signature tells Congress this issue matters.

Every signature adds momentum to a national movement for a permanent fix.

The Court could rule any day.

Once it does, the news cycle moves on – and Congress moves on with it.

Don't let that happen.

Together, we can force Congress to do what it should have done years ago – close this loophole for good.

Holding the line,

Chuck Muth
President, Citizen Outreach

P.S. If this loophole stays open, an estimated 72,000 citizenship births will happen again next year. And the year after that. And the year after that.

A constitutional amendment is the only permanent fix – but it only happens if Congress hears from enough Americans loudly enough.
