ACTION ALERT! Here’s Your Last Chance to Kill the “Hollywood Handout”

Posted By

As usual, Republicans in the State Assembly are as useless as a parachute that opens on the way up.

Five of them already gave Democrats their vote to pass the “Hollywood Handout” bill (AB5) when given the chance to kill it on Thursday – and are likely to vote for it again later today.

They are, as Vladimir Lenin so eloquently put it, “useful idiots.”

And the leader of the walking brain-dead is Assemblyman Brian Hibbetts. Get this…

When a voter emailed him yesterday asking why he voted to advance the Hollywood Handout bill when his ONE VOTE could have killed it, Hibbetts responded:

“I voted against the motion to block the bill because I feel every bill should have the chance at a fair hearing.”

What a moron and gutless wonder.

Tell us, Bri-Bri, when the hell did Democrats ever give Republicans a hearing on any school choice bill, including increased funding for Opportunity Scholarships?

That would be…never.

So the Assembly is hopeless – especially since Minority Leader Greg Hafen has no control, or even influence, over the lost sheep in his caucus.

Which brings us to the State Senate.

This will be the last chance to drive a stake through the heart of this insane bill – which, by way, will quite possibly result in Democrat Assemblywoman Sandra Jaregui, author of the bill, beating Republican Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony next November in the LG race.

Remember, the Hollywood Handout narrowly passed in the Assembly 22-20 during the regular session back in June but never got a vote in the Senate because the clock ran out.

And I have it on EXCELLENT authority that here’s where things stand in the upper house – where 11 votes are needed kill the bill – as of this hour:

  • At least four Democrats are believed to be solid “no” votes.
  • Five of the eight Republicans are solid “no” votes.
  • “Republican” Sen. John Steinbeck is (shamefully) a solid yes.
  • Two Republicans – Sen. Jeff Stone and Sen. Lisa Krasner – are said to be wavering.

If both vote “no” – and four Democrats vote “no” – there’s your 11 “no” votes to kill the bill.

So Sens. Stone and Krasner need to hear from you NOW.

Not this afternoon. Not an hour from now.
