Amodei Resigns Chairmanship Of Nevada Republican Party

Amodei Resigns Chairmanship Of Nevada Republican Party
Chuck Muth
May 27, 2011
(Mark E. Amodei) – Yesterday,  I filed by Deceleration of Candidacy for the Congressional District 2 Special Election.  Due to filing my Deceleration, I was forced to make a tough decision to resign as Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party.  I wanted to share my official resignation letter with you and take a moment to share Vice Chairwoman Dilley’s kind remarks and also thank her for her continued service.

“It is with a heavy heart that we accept Mark’s resignation today. Mark had the courage to step up at a time when the party needed strong leadership and today we thank him for his selfless service. Mark united the party with his extensive knowledge of Nevada, love of the Republican principles and an entertaining sense of humor. It has truly been our pleasure and privilege to work with Mark Amodei and we will miss his presence at the podium. I respect his decision to pursue a new opportunity and wish him well in his campaign.”  (From Vice Chairwoman Dilley).
25 May 2011

Dear Madame Vice Chair:

Please accept this communication as notice of my resignation from the Chairmanship of the Nevada Republican Party.  Due to today’s filing of my Declaration of Candidacy for the Congressional District 2 Special Election, this resignation is effective immediately.

While I have some reservations about leaving a post which has proved to be one of the most challenging and rewarding of my adult endeavors,  the pending special election race has necessarily become my primary focus for the next 100 days.  I have delayed this action in order to allow the process of selecting a new State Party Chair to proceed in a reasonable and methodical manner.  Indeed, I believe our Party and the position of Chair, deserve an orderly and respectful process from which our delegates can recruit, interview and select their next State Party Chair.  I believe that goal has been achieved with the current efforts of several qualified candidates from whom one will be selected next month.

It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with you and the other members of the State Board, as well as the Chairs and their respective Boards of the County Central Committees.  We are truly blessed to have such dedicated and selfless members, and true believers, in the tenets of The Grand Old Party.  I believe that our Party is in better shape than it was a year ago when I was elected Chair, and I look forward to continuing to do all I can to assist our Party in building on those successes.  Enjoy your stint as acting Chair, and a personal thank you for your tremendous efforts in assisting me, and our Party during your term.  I look forward to seeing you presiding in Sparks on June 18.

Cordially,
Mark E. Amodei
