ANNOUNCEMENT: Statement from Annie Black

After careful thought, prayer, and many conversations with supporters and friends across the state, I’ve decided not to run for the Nevada State Senate this year.

While I am confident we would have run a strong and competitive campaign, I believe this is the right decision for our party and our state at this time.

Like many of you, I’m frustrated with the direction our state has been going under Democrat control of our Legislature, as well as the “go-along” attitude of too many Republicans in Carson City.

That’s why I announced my candidacy last December.

However, elections are about more than any single race or any single candidate. They’re about building a team that can win and move Nevada away from the destructive policies of our neighbor to the west.

Gov. Joe Lombardo has made it clear that Assemblywoman Danielle Gallant is his choice for this seat. And I respect his decision.

Although confident in my ability to nevertheless win the primary, a contested race would likely cost his endorsed candidate well over $100,000 in the campaign.

By stepping aside, those resources can now be directed where they are needed most – toward defeating Democrat incumbents and flipping competitive legislative seats across Nevada.

As such, I respectfully ask Assemblywoman Gallant to follow my “team player” lead and donate the $100,000 she otherwise would have spent on the primary to deserving Republican legislative candidates this year.

Republicans win when we work together, keep our eyes on the bigger picture, and support the candidates who can help change the direction of our state.

Thank you again to everyone who encouraged me and offered their support. I remain committed to fighting for the conservative principles that brought me into public service in the first place.
