N&V Staff
March 17, 2011

(Lori Piotrowski) – Never say that Republicans can’t all agree. On Tuesday evening, March 15, members of the Clark County Republican Central Committee held their bimonthly meeting and unanimously passed a resolution in support of Governor Sandoval’s budget and encouraging the Assembly to do the same.

Republican Assembly members, we are watching you!

The resolution, introduced by CCRCC member Dan Burdish, took effect at the close of the meeting. Below is the text of the resolution:

RESOLUTION MBER G-106

TO ADOPT A GENERAL RESOLUTION OF THE

CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE

Summary – A General Resolution to take an express political position on a matter of public policy regarding encouraging the Nevada Republican Assembly Caucus to support the Governor’s current proposed budget.

A GENERAL RESOLUTION TO TAKE AN EXPRESS POLITICAL POSITION ON A MATTER OF PUBLIC POLICY REGARDING ENCOURAGING THE NEVADA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY CAUCUS TO SUPPORT THE GOVERNOR’S CURRENT PROPOSED BUDGET IN CONCERT WITH THE NEVADA REPUBLICAN SENATE CAUCUS AND TO DO SO WITHOUT RAISING TAXES OR FEES; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Clark County Republican Central Committee, does hereby declare as follows:

SECTION 1.

WHEREAS, Governor Brian Sandoval has submitted a balanced budget to the Nevada Legislature with no new taxes or fees; and

WHEREAS, Increasing taxes or fees in these economic times is irresponsible; and

WHEREAS, Democrats in the 2003 Legislative Session said allowing the people of Nevada the opportunity to vote on taxes was an abdication of legislative responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Nevada is the 23rd highest taxed state per capita; and

WHEREAS, Increasing taxes on the businesses of Nevada will have a chilling effect on job creation as Nevada continues to lead the nation in unemployment:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, The Clark County Republican Central Committee, urges the members of the Nevada Republican Assembly Caucus to join with their Senate colleagues in signing a statement of support for Governor Sandoval’s proposal to balance the budget without raising taxes or fees, or extending any of the tax and fee increases scheduled to sunset in June.

SECTION 2. This resolution is hereby introduced by motion of individual Clark County Republican Central Committee member Daniel Burdish.

SECTION 2.1 The Resolutions Committee formally recommends the adoption of this resolution by the plenary session of the Clark County Republican Central Committee.

SECTION 3 FORMAL STATEMENT BY THE RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE IN SUPPORT OF THE ADOPTION OF THE RESOLUTION: The Resolutions Committee strongly urges the adoption of this resolution without additional comment.

SECTION 4. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage at the close of the meeting of the Clark County Republican Central Committee or Clark County Republican Convention at which it was passed.

PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 15th day of March, 2010
