(Better Nevada PAC) – Disgraced Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones remains engulfed in growing controversy for his ethical scandal involving deleted text messages following a vote over a contested development project.
This is not Jones’ first ethical scandal as he was cited previously by a judge for violations of candor in court.
Even as Jones faces an investigation from the Nevada Bar and numerous calls to resign his seat, his Democrat colleagues have seemingly come to his defense.
The Nevada Independent reports that Commission Chair Jim Gibson “suggested it was the county’s practices — not specific individuals — that needed change.” Similar sentiments were voiced by Commissioners Tick Segerblom and Marilyn Kirkpatrick.
“Justin Jones has once again disgraced his office and failed to uphold the public’s trust, there’s no reason for him to remain in office,” said Better Nevada PAC spokesman John Burke. “It’s unacceptable that his fellow commissioners are not calling for his immediate resignation.”
As many Nevadans know, ethics scandals are nothing new to the Clark County Commission, with several commissioners being convicted and sent to federal prison over the years. You’d think they’d want to clean up their act. Guess not.
