Condescending Pre-Election Ploy by Sen. Harry Reid

Condescending Pre-Election Ploy by Sen. Harry Reid
Chuck Muth
September 28, 2010

(Swadeep Nigam) – Last week our snobbish senior Senator Harry Reid announced to push a bill to legalize 720,000 illegals to patronize Hispanic community in Southern Nevada for his upcoming November election battle. Sen. Reid is pushing for Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors bill also known as DREAM Act – legislation that would legalize young illegals if they go to college or serve in the military. DREAM Act , a pleasant name to a horrible legislation which will ultimately encourage increase movement of illegals from our southern border.

The DREAM Act has mugged the law abiding immigrants who waited for years for that elusive dream of becoming a citizen of this great democracy. Sen. Reid’s DREAM Act is a NIGHTMARE Act for thousands and thousands of future immigrants who are waiting in their home countries. Immigrants from South Asia sub-continent have waited in treacherous long lines, sometimes up to 15 years, and have followed the law to legally migrate to this great democracy but pandering to illegals by Senator Reid makes a mockery of the US immigration system.

Instead of having a real meaningful immigration reform, Senator Reid is pushing an agenda for legalizing the illegals and has added the bill to the military spending. This is the same Senator Reid who in 1993 spoke on the Senate floor against giving citizenship to the children born to illegals.

Check out Sen. Reid’s hypocrisy on immigration in this 1993 video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqyeb-5ZfEc Now in 2010, Sen. Reid has made irresponsible statement on illegals by saying that they do not work in construction in Nevada. Check out Nathan Baca of Channel 8 confronting Sen. Reid on illegals in construction industry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzFfK5B6kLg&feature=related

On this recent video the Senator staff clarified that “one single amendment is not the silver bullet to fixing our broken immigration system. we need comprehensive reform that secure the borders…” If that’s true then why our Senator is inserting “one single amendment” called DREAMS act to the Defense bill.

It is time to let Sen. Reid know that our local schools are suffering due to the heavy enrollment of illegal children. As per some estimates almost 20% of the students in the Clark County School District are illegally staying in Southern Nevada. These 20% (60,000+) cost us, the tax payers, approximately $50 million annually. This copious amount would otherwise be going to the teachers and students who are legal US residents and citizens. California illegals have a free ride to state universities and colleges where as our own kids who are born and raised in Nevada have to pay exorbitant out-of-state tuition fees.

Sen. Reid pandering to illegals (mostly Hispanic) is deplorable and reflects the true colors of his devious behavior for political purposes. Sen. Reid has disregarded the plea and emotions of thousands of Southern Nevadans who have lost their jobs and homes while pandering to the illegals. Nevada leads the nation in unemployment with current jobless rate of 14.4%, 50% higher than the US unemployment rate of 9.6%. By some estimates the Hispanic (legal) unemployment in Nevada is running at over 25% .

Senator Reid should be concentrating on creating jobs in Nevada rather than pushing for legalizing the illegals via his dream, the DREAM Act. Senator’s DREAM act which he inserted with the defense spending bill is the dream comes true for illegals and Democrats. This appalling behavior of the Senator reflects that he is untrustworthy political manipulator, and dishonest to himself and to his constituents.

Please call Senator Harry Reid now at 702.388.5020 (Las Vegas office) or 202.224.3542 (Washington DC Office) to let him know that you are against the legalizing of illegals as recommended in his DREAM Act.
