Democrat Falsely Claims Review-Journal Endorsement

Democrat Falsely Claims Review-Journal Endorsement
Chuck Muth
October 30, 2010

(Njus for Assembly campaign) – Kathryn Njus, Republican Candidate for Assembly District 42, is honored and appreciates being endorsed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Imagine the surprise that was felt by supporters of Kathryn Njus, and Kathryn Njus herself, when two of Irene Bustamante-Adams’ yard signs were seen in the front yard of current Assemblyman Harry Mortenson falsely claiming that Ms. Bustamante-Adams is endorsed by the Review-Journal and the Las Vegas Sun.

The Review-Journal endorsement in this race went to Kathryn Njus. In fact, only the Las Vegas Sun endorsed Ms. Bustamante-Adams.

Assemblyman Mortenson was contacted Tuesday regarding this matter. He responded Thursday afternoon saying, “It was an honest mistake which I have corrected.” However, over eight hours later the deceitful signs were still in place.

Assemblyman Mortenson also stated that he advised Ms. Bustamante-Adams of this matter, and she “called her campaign manager to double check.”

If Ms. Bustamante-Adams had to confirm her newspaper endorsements with her campaign manager, how informed and well versed is she in other matters that concern the citizens of this state? She is so out of touch with the community, she does not even know who her endorsers are. If she is not out of touch, then the only other explanation is that she is lying to the public. Neither possibility bodes well for voters.

If this is indicative of the lack of ethics we can expect from Ms. Bustamante-Adams, then any concerns for integrity would require a vote for Kathryn Njus. The citizens of Assembly District 42 deserve a candidate who has a higher level of ethical standards. Kathryn Njus is that candidate. She is fair, honest, and ethical.
