Don’t Let Up! Government Health Care Can Be Stopped!

Don’t Let Up! Government Health Care Can Be Stopped!
N&V Staff
December 16, 2009

(Rep. John Shadegg) – Today, yet another wave of Tea Party Americans came to the U.S. Capitol to fight a government takeover of health care. Now, the focus is on the Senate.

Washington liberals are on the brink of making our health care system worse, not better, and putting you, your family, and your friends at risk. Their legislation will increase your premiums and raise your taxes. CBO confirms that non-group premiums would increase $300 per year for individuals and $2,100 for families. The bill contains $400 billion in tax increases many of which start in 2010 – in the midst of the current recession. Again, CBO says the bill’s mandates “would reduce the hiring of low-wage workers.”

In fact, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a self-described “democratic socialist” readily admits Obamacare will increase your health care Obamacare will increase your health care premiums:

“Can I sit up here or stand here with a straight face and say, we have got strong cost-containment provisions in this legislation? That if you’re an ordinary person who has employer-based health care that your premiums are not going to go up in the next eight years based on what’s in this bill? I can’t say that. It’s just not accurate.” (Senate floor, December 14, 2009)

There you have it. Even one of the most liberal Senators in Congress acknowledges this bill will increase your premiums, precisely the opposite of what President Obama promised.

Yet, as recently as today, the President had the gall to tell the country that the bill will save Americans money.

Now is the time to fight back against the White House’s distortion of the truth! Tell your friends the truth. Email this to everyone you know and urge them to act now!

P.S. It is urgent that you contact Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and urge him to fight with everything he’s got, and that you are watching him carefully! Call him in Washington, D.C. at (202) 224-2541. Also, contact the following Senators and tell them to vote NO on the government-takeover of health care: Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu, and Olympia Snowe.

(Congressman Shadegg is a Republican from Arizona)
