Escaped from California: I’m Running to Save Nevada from the Same Fate

(Erica Neely) – I know it’s unusual for a candidate to be giving you their personal cell phone number, however…

If you’re like me, you’re probably tired of seeing all those big, obnoxious campaign postcards that most candidates flood your mailbox with every election.

Well, I’m running to represent you in the State Assembly and don’t want to be like them.  So I’m trying something different – some might even say “radical.”

I thought I’d just send you some personal letters telling you about my campaign, where I stand on the issues, how to reach me if you want to chat, and . . .

ASK FOR YOUR VOTE.

You see, I believe campaigns aren’t about the candidates, but about the voters who have to decide who they want to represent them in the Nevada Legislature.

And “attack ads” just aren’t my style – though I will explain the reasons why I think I can better represent you in Carson City than our current Assemblyman, Steve Yeager.

And although this election is really about you, not me, I realize you need to know something about me so you can make an informed decision when you cast your ballot.  So here goes…

  • I’m a first-generation AMERICAN. My Latina heritage is Mexican on my father’s side and Salvadoran on my mother’s side.
  • Like many of you, I’m a California “refugee.” I moved to Las  Vegas in 2005 to escape government policies that gave us high taxes, high housing costs, and high crime
  • I have a small home-based business tutoring kids, and also coach youth soccer in my “spare” time.
  • I’m married with six children – one adopted – all of whom my husband and I are homeschooling thanks to the failures of the Clark County school district.
  • I was so angry at how bad and unsafe our public schools were that I ran for school board in 2022 rather than just complaining about it.

And like many of you, I’m a former Democrat.  I walked away over a dozen years ago.  And here are some of the reasons why . . .

  • They’re no longer the party of the “working stiff.” They care more about Hollywood celebrities and their corporate donors than middle-class American families.
  • They play silly word games. Sorry, but I’m a MOTHER, not a “birthing person.”
  • They support allowing biological males to compete against girls in high school and college sports – as well as use their locker rooms and showers.
  • They support open borders for illegal immigration; an insult to all immigrants who spent years coming to our country legally.
  • They care more about going easy on criminals than protecting the victims.
  • They oppose letting low-income parents choose the school their kids go to. If you can choose your child’s doctor, why shouldn’t you be able to choose your child’s teacher?
  • They’ve become the party of government censorship and actively try to silence speech they don’t agree with.

As former California State Sen. Gloria Romero put it recently . . .

“This is not the Democratic Party I once championed.  I don’t recognize it anymore.”

Now, that doesn’t mean I agree 100% with Republicans. Their failure to control government spending in Washington, DC, is one example.

I’m truly an independent thinker, not a lockstep “party soldier.”  In fact, I’m proud to say I’ve been endorsed by the Nevada Independent Voter Coalition.

If you want to learn more, Nevada News & Views published a detailed article on my background and this race.  You can read it at: https://nevadanewsandviews.com/erica.

Or visit my campaign website at:  www.neelyfornevada.com

But enough about me.

I’m running against an incumbent Democrat who only won last time with 53% of the vote.  And since then, almost 4,000 new non-partisan voters (now the largest group of voters in Nevada) have registered in our district.

If you’re like me and want to be represented by somebody new in Carson City, please share this with your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers.

Do that and together we’ll shock the establishment’s movers-and-shakers, fix the problems, and make things better for our kids, families, workers, and small businesses.

I’m running because I love my adopted state of Nevada and fear it could become the nightmare I left in California if Mr. Yeager continues to represent us in Carson City.

I want to be YOUR voice.  OUR voice.  An INDEPENDENT voice.

And as promised, if you have any questions, you can reach me on my personal cell at (702) 785-1160 or shoot an email to erica@neely4nevada.com.
