First “First Friday” Happy Hour Held in Reno

First “First Friday” Happy Hour Held in Reno
N&V Staff
November 10, 2009

(Orrin Johnson) – Last week, the First Friday Happy Hour event expanded to Reno with a bang! It was co-sponsored by the newly re-chartered Nevada Federation of Young Republicans.

About 50 people came for the premier event, held at Harrah’s Sapphire Lounge. Among them were current Assemblymen and future Senators Ty Cobb (Assembly 26, running for Senate District Washoe 4), James Settelmeyer (Assembly 39, running for the Capital Senate District), and Don Gustavson (Assembly 32, running for Senate District Washoe 2), and legislative candidates Ellie Lopez-Bowlan (Assembly 26), Todd “Taxpayer” Bailey (Senate Washoe 4), and Robb Archie (Assembly 26).

The event was a great opportunity for conservatives to get together to talk, debate, get energized, get organized, rub elbows with their elected officials, and have an all around good time besides.

But it went beyond just conservatives – a few self described Democrats visiting from California accidentally crashed the party, but stuck around for the common sense conversation. That’s the value of First Fridays Nevada – when we get out in the community and communicate our ideas and principles effectively, they win every time.

We can’t wait to continue to emulate the First Friday success that Las Vegas now enjoys. This is only the beginning. If you were there and had a good time (and I know you did!), bring a friend next month.

And if you missed it, come on down next time for a First Friday Christmas. It’ll be at Harrah’s of Reno’s Sapphire Lounge on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 5:30. As always, we’ll have drink specials and food, and we’ll be raising some money to make Christmas in Northern Nevada that much brighter for some folks who will otherwise miss out. We hope to see you there!
