(Chuck Muth) – The swamp-draining has begun in earnest.
Yesterday, Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for Manhattan announced he was resigning before Donald Trump is sworn in – AGAIN! – as President of the United States.
Damian is currently overseeing prosecutions of New York Mayor Eric Adams and P. Diddy Combs.
The current U.S. Attorney for Nevada is former Democrat Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson. By tradition, he will also resign and be replaced by President Trump next year.
If you’re not familiar, here’s what a “U.S. Attorney” is and does according to the Legal Information Institute…
“United States Attorneys are the main attorneys representing the federal government in district and appellate courts. There are 93 United States attorneys that cover 94 districts. United States Attorneys serve as prosecution in criminal cases and both prosecution and defense for the federal government in civil cases.”
They are appointed by the President to four-year terms, with the advice and consent of the Senate, and are overseen by the U.S. Attorney General and the Executive Office of United States Attorneys (EOUSA).
They can use federal law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI, to help with their duties and do not represent individuals in lawsuits or matters against other people, companies, or government agencies.
So what happens when a new president takes office? From Wikipedia…
“By tradition, all U.S. attorneys are asked to resign at the start of a new administration. The new President may elect to keep or remove any U.S. attorney. They are traditionally replaced, collectively, only at the start of a new White House administration.
“When a new president is from a different political party, typically almost all of the resignations are eventually accepted and the positions are then filled by newly confirmed appointees, typically from the new president’s party.”
Word on the street is that two candidates for the position are actively pursuing the appointment.
The first is Nevada Republican National Committeewoman Sigal Chattah.
Ugh. But she has her tentacles in Trump World, and that might be enough to qualify her as a DEI hire. The only good that would come out of her appointment is that at least the Nevada GOP would be rid of her.
A FAR better alternative would be former Clark County GOP Chairman Bernie Zadrowski. I’ve known him for over a dozen years, but if you’re not familiar here’s some background…
Born in 1966, Bernie grew up as the middle of three children.
After attending the United States Air Force Academy, he worked full-time during the day and attended law school at night. He graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in the top 11% of his class.
Bernie moved to Las Vegas immediately after graduation and began his legal career.
As a Clark County Deputy District Attorney, Bernie has prosecuted cases in every court across Clark County, from minor offenses to violent crimes.
His role as Chief Deputy in the Bad Check Unit resulted in recovering an average of $2.5 million per month in restitution for victims of fraud and bad checks.
Beyond the courtroom, Bernie has dedicated over a decade to teaching criminal law at the College of Southern Nevada, sharing his expertise with future legal professionals.
He has served on the Nevada Judicial Selection Commission, the Judicial Ethics Commission, and as Vice Chairman of the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board.
With his wife Shannan and their two children, Bernie continues to contribute to Southern Nevada as a trusted public servant and family man. Indeed, the man is exceptionally proud that his son is following in Dad’s footsteps right now at the Air Force Academy.

Bernie is clearly the MEI candidate: Merit, Excellence, and Intelligence. Nevada would do well should President Trump appoint him as our next U.S. attorney to replace Mr. Frierson.
And speaking of appointments: Yesterday, Matt Brasseux was appointed as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Political Affairs.
Brasseaux was deputy political director for Trump’s 2024 campaign. He also served as a regional political director for the Republican National Committee and as the 2022 campaign manager for Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo.
Congratulations, Matt!

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“The mayor of Denver doesn’t seem to understand that the United States Army settled the question of states, counties and cities defying the federal government in a meeting at Appomattox in 1865 when General Lee surrendered. Denver attempting to block the federal government’s detention and deportation of illegal aliens would be an act of insurrection and would be immediately crushed by the federal government.” – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich
