Fun, Food and Friends at Fourth Friday in Reno

Fun, Food and Friends at Fourth Friday in Reno

October 27, 2011

Inspired by Citizen Outreach’s successful conservative First Friday in Las Vegas, Randi Thompson of government and public relations firm As You Wish is holding a Fourth Friday event in Reno. The first Fourth Friday will be this week, October 27 from 4-7 p.m. at 775Gastropub at Meadowood Mall in Reno.

Thompson had attended a couple of the First Friday events in Las Vegas hosted by Chuck Muth and really enjoyed them so she decided she’d try to duplicate the effort up north. She chose the fourth Friday “so it would not conflict with Chuck’s happy hour.”

She expects about 30 people at the initial event, which will feature some local politicians. “For Nevada Day we have invited all the elected officials who will likely be in town for the Nevada Day Parade that will be in Carson on Saturday,” Thompson explained.

Revelers will be treated to $3 well, beer and wine and $3 snacks at 775Gastropub, which Thompson described as “a restaurant that focuses on using food from Northern Nevada, so it has a great local appeal.”

Thompson expects Fourth Friday partiers to “enjoy a fun night of talking politics and getting to know folks with whom you usually just volunteer.” She’s hoping they will “forge better friendships and maybe even heal some relationships from campaigns.”

A veteran of several campaigns, Thompson is offering an opportunity for others to relax and unwind in a different atmosphere than the one in which they normally see each other.

“This is a chance to meet and mingle with folks you usually only see during the stress of a campaign,” Thompson said. “We hope this event will help form closer friendships among the folks who usually don’t have a chance to just relax and get to know each other.”

If you’re in Reno tomorrow or the fourth Friday of any month, take the chance to relax and unwind at Fourth Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at 775Gastropub at Meadowood Mall in Reno.
