Gov. Lombardo Declares Today an Official Day in Honor of Nevada Policy’s John Tsarpalas

(Kaeley Cook)  – Today was proclaimed by Governor Lombardo as an official day in honor of John Tsarpalas, President Emeritus of Nevada Policy, and we couldn’t be prouder.

The proclamation traces roughly forty years of work, from a contractor in Illinois who ran head-on into the cost of excessive regulation, to executive director of the Illinois Republican Party, to training activists in more than ten states.

Since he and Mary Beth made Henderson home in 2017, John has led Nevada Policy to some of its biggest wins: the landmark Supreme Court decision upholding the Constitutional Separation of Powers, the campaign that defeated Question 3, and more.

But if you know John, you know the résumé isn’t really the point. His most important work has always been the changes he’s made in individual lives, one person at a time.

When John hired me at Nevada Policy, I remember wondering if a mentor could really be as kind, genuine, and level-headed as he seemed. But John has never wavered from that, in all of our time working together.

John always says he tries to treat people the way he would want to be treated, and whether he’s mentoring a staff member, talking with a stranger, or making someone laugh with a good joke, I’ve watched him live that out every single day.

Every person at Nevada Policy has their own version of that story, and so do a lot of Nevadans who met John once and walked away thinking differently about what they were capable of.

The proclamation is a genuine honor. But the bigger one is the mark he continues to leave on the people of this state, one person at a time.
