Lombardo’s Mail-In Ballot Repeal Makes Dems Squeal

Lombardo’s Mail-In Ballot Repeal Makes Dems Squeal
Chuck Muth
January 25, 2023

(Chuck Muth) – Gov. Joe Lombardo really struck a nerve with the following in his State of the State speech Monday night…

“Nevada created universal mail-in ballots as a response to COVID. With the pandemic behind us, this expensive process is simply unnecessary. … (S)ending ballots to more than 1.9 million registered voters is inefficient and unnecessary.”

Even simpletons know that mailing out ballots to Nevada’s “dirty” voter lists and to people who don’t want them invites voter fraud and wastes taxpayer money.

Voting fraud happens every election.  But it’s so easy to hide, and so hard to find, that the extent of fraudulent ballots is almost impossible to know.

Here’s what we do know: Taxpayers paid to automatically mail a ballot to 1,871,188 voters and only 524,227 of those ballots were mailed back.

That’s less than 1/3 of eligible voters.  And means taxpayers paid to mail 1,346,961 ballots that weren’t used.

Nevertheless, Democrat Assembly Speaker Steve Yeager said the governor’s proposal was “a non-starter,” claiming fraud claims have “been found to not have any basis in truth.”

Not.  Yeager apparently missed this story from October 2021…

“A Nevada man forged his dead wife’s signature and then mailed in a ballot using her name for the 2020 election, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office announced. Donald Kirk Hartle, a 55-year-old registered Republican from Las Vegas, was charged with two counts of voter fraud for using the name of another person and voting more than once in the same election, the AG said in a statement on Thursday.”

If one person did it and got caught, how many did it and didn’t get caught?  And as former U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams (appointed by Biden, by the way) put it…

“If even one vote has been illegally cast, or if the integrity of just one election official is compromised, it diminishes faith in the process.”

For her part, Democrat Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro declared she wasn’t interested “in having a conversation about how we’re going to strip away people’s right to vote.”

Liar.

The truth is, Nevadans have always had the option to REQUEST a mail-in ballot for any reason whatsoever.

So even if mail-in ballots aren’t automatically sent to every voter, any voter who wants to vote by mail can.  They can also vote early or on Election Day.

Stopping the dumb practice of spending money to mail ballots to people who don’t want them doesn’t strip anyone of their right to vote. Period.

When you have to flagrantly lie like this to make your argument, you know you have no case.

But what she and Yeager DO have is the majority in both houses of the Nevada Legislature.  So while Gov. Lombardo’s proposal is absolutely the right thing to do, Democrats will block it with everything they’ve got.

If you want to see this problem fixed, the answer is to elect more Republicans to the Legislature in 2024.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“The voter rolls are a problem in every jurisdiction in America, due to the constant duplications, difficulty of removing and updating the rolls because of threats by ideological groups to sue if and when a jurisdiction tries to update voter rolls and remove those who have died, or moved, or stopped voting for some reason and are no longer active.” – Cleta Mitchell, Voter Integrity Network
