(Jim Stockdale) – It is now clear that Barak Obama is running a “class warfare” campaign. The evidence is overwhelming. The President doesn’t miss an opportunity to disparage those individual Americans and American small business owners who are the wealth producers in our country.
To Obama, the successful in America are greedy, deceitful and unworthy of their wealth. The Obama campaign is set to favor public sector workers over private sector workers, union workers over non-union workers and to give extra benefits to the non-working poor.
Obama favors that which doesn’t work over that which is proven to work. He worships “green” energy and loathes other types of energy such as oil, fossil fuels, natural gas and other American staples which have withstood the test of time.
Such examples are legion. Given the Obama strategy it would be a mistake for the Republicans to nominate Mitt Romney. Governor Romney is a poster child for what Obama is looking for. Romney is a product of second generation wealth and Obama will ridicule the Romney upbringing and life style and contrast it to that of his own. The Obama campaign will make Romney the candidate of the elites and Obama will describe himself as the candidate “of the people”.
Even in today’s period of American malaise this gives Obama the edge.
In my view the other announced candidates would all be better than Romney. But, there is still a better candidate, albeit an unannounced candidate—former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani did not run well in 2008. I’m sure he’s learned from that experience.
So why Giuliani? Some reasons: He has command of the issues, comes from a middle class background, during a period of international turmoil he is a hero of 9-11, and is a good debater and stump speaker. And most important—he will most likely carry New York and New Jersey.
The 2012 presidential election will determine whether America again becomes a nation of excellence or drifts towards European style socialism. I, for one, believe those of us who are conservatives need to take our best shot and that shot could be in the form of New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Mayor Giuliani represents true conservative values. Let’s hope he joins the 2012 presidential candidates to give conservatives another quality candidate that could win the White House.
