Muth’s Truths: January 10, 2018

January 10, 2018

(Chuck Muth) – Some drive-by Muthings of the political landscape…

There will be a wall.  And so-called “Dreamers” will get some kind of legal status to remain in the United States.  It’s now just a matter of grinding the sausage in between those two ends.

TV ratings for the NFL took a knee in 2017.  Viewership was down 10 percent this season.  I’m happy to be part of the ongoing boycott.  Heckuva job, Goodell!

As much as the “fake news” media would like you to think it’s Republicans who are in trouble, the fact that Democrats are frothing at the mouth over the possibility of Oprah being their presidential candidate in 2020 proves THEY are really the party of desperation.

Because he sometimes says or tweets negative things about certain women and/or minorities, like Sen. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren, the left would have you believe that President Donald Trump is a racist and a misogynist.

But Trump’s recent public evisceration of Steve Bannon – an old, white guy – demonstrates that Trump doesn’t see color or gender or anything else when going after an opponent.  He treats women and minorities equally.  And isn’t that what we’re supposed to do?

Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded an Obama-era executive order that pretty much kept the Justice Department out of the hair of states which have legalized marijuana.  Maybe Congress will now finally do something about federal marijuana laws that infringe upon state’s rights.

The Trump administration has announced that it is ending “Temporary Protection Status” for El Salvador natives who were allowed into the U.S. temporarily after a major earthquake struck the Central American country in 2001. Left-wing activists are having a cow over the decision.

What part of the word “temporary” has them confused?

Back in the 1950s, the government stood in front of school house doors so little black kids couldn’t get inside.  Today the government’s still blocking those doors, only now to keep minority children from using vouchers and Education Savings Accounts to leave.

As Nevada Policy Research Institute President John Tsarpalas put it recently, the left has literally “quarantined” minority children in our public schools – as if they’re some kind of societal disease that can never be cured and could be contagious.  Shameful.

Then again, blacks continue to consistently give 90%-plus of their vote to liberal Democrats, so I guess they like it this way.

There’s no question that Democrats in the Nevada Legislature next year will try to pass legislation making Nevada a sanctuary state like California.  Alas, an activist judge in Carson City recently declared that Nevada voters were too stupid to understand a ballot initiative that would permanently ban sanctuary cities and tossed it.

Let’s hope the Nevada Supreme Court reverses this insulting decision.

The conventional wisdom throughout 2017 was that gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak was an electoral colossus who could not be stopped in the Democrat primary.  Then uber-liberal Chris Giunchigliani shocked the conventional wisdomers after the holidays by announcing she’s raised $1 million to challenge Sisolak.

Wouldn’t stick a fork in Sisolak yet.  But I wouldn’t be polishing his crown either.
