Muth's Truths

Muth’s Truths: October 10, 2016

Muth’s Truths: October 10, 2016

downloadGoing into Monday night’s debate, Donald Trump was on the canvass and the referee had reached the count of 9.

But not only did he get up off the mat – and despite being TRIPLE teamed byHillary Clinton, Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz – but he came back and won an absolutely stunning victory.

This might well go down as one of the greatest political comebacks in American history.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been if Trump had said, “I knew Abraham Lincoln.  Honest Abe was a friend of mine.  And you, Hillary, are no Abraham Lincoln.”

The “fact-checkers” heads would have exploded!

The debate also demonstrated why so many Republicans who recognize that Trump is not a philosophical soulmate support him anyway.  It’s because he’s a fighter, plain and simple.

Over the past twenty-some years, Republican elected officials have quit and run for the hills the minute some liberal calls them a racist, a misogynist or unsympathetic to the poor.

It’s not that Republicans have lost fights with the Left that has the grassroots in revolt; it’s that they quit the fight at the first sign of battle.

Maybe the polls and the talking heads are correct and Trump won’t win on November 8th.  Maybe.  But at least he’s going down swinging!  He’s not rolling over and playing dead like John McCain and Mitt Romney did.

Donald Trump is teaching Republicans how to fight.  And that’s a lesson that’s going to carry conservative Republicans forward for many years to come regardless of the outcome next month.

And I’ll say it AGAIN…

The Republican Party should NEVER, EVER again agree to allow media performers to moderate a debate.  They should be allowed to cover them, but not actively participate in them.

 Cheers.

P.S.  Here’s how longtime veteran political professional and card-carrying conservative leader Richard Viguerie saw last night’s debate…

“Last night Donald Trump conducted a tutorial on how to take control and win a debate.  Trump’s performance was text book. First he gave a sincere and creditable apology and then he took control of the debate and went on a 90-minute discussion of what he wants the campaign to be focused on for the next month.

“For those voters who don’t like America’s direction they saw a person who was a credible alternative to Obama’s 3rd term. Trump was at the top of his game – he’s never been better. He’s exciting and brought new energy to his supporters.  Trump met and exceeded most people’s expectations by a mile.”

NEVADA NEWS & VIEWS

If you don’t vote for Donald Trump, you’re voting for Hillary Clinton.  It’s just that simple.

As such, this past weekend’s defections from Team Trump have shown exactly who is on the “Republicans for Hillary” steering committee in Nevada…

  • National Chairman: Mitt Romney
  • National Co-chairman: John McCain
  • Sen. Dean Heller
  • Gov. Brian Sandoval
  • Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison
  • Congressman Joe Heck
  • Congressman Cresent Hardy
  • Assemblyman James Oscarson
  • State Senate candidate Heidi Gansert

But to stay consistent here, if you don’t vote for Heck for U.S. Senate, you’re voting for Catherine Cortez Masto-Reid – which could very well result in turning the U.S. Senate over to Chuck Schumer and the Democrats.

And if that happens, our ability to confirm conservative court appointments by President Trump – or block liberal court appointments by President Crooked – will be immeasurably more difficult.

Lastly: Bravo to Rep. Mark Amodei and congressional candidate Danny Tarkanian, who withstood enormous pressure to throw Trump under the bus when the going got tough and instead stood solidly with the GOP’s presidential nominee.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“House Speaker Paul Ryan has discussed withdrawing his endorsement of Donald Trump, according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions within his inner circle. Ryan (R-Wis.) has publicly and privately grown dismayed by the tone and tenor of Trump’s campaign, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of his thinking. And Ryan has reviewed with close advisers whether to abandon the GOP nominee.” – Politico’s Jake Sherman
