(Chuck Muth) – The greatest weakness of Republicans in Carson City – and the list is boundless – is this notion that if they don’t get a bill passed – no matter how trivial, useless, or insignificant – they’re a “failure.”
Democrats know this and play on it with reckless abandon. They’re like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.
They tell their GOP colleagues that if they don’t vote for truly horrible bills – like tax hikes – that their bills will be killed. And like Charlie Brown, Republicans fall for it every time.
Only to see their trivial bills killed anyway.
And then Democrats get to go into the next session with the ability to claim that truly horrible bills – like tax hikes – were “bipartisan,” thereby taking the issue off the table in the next election and keeping Republicans in the minority.
The GOP isn’t known as the “stupid party” for nothing.
Someone should send every one of our Republican legislators a copy of “The Art of the Deal.” Because right now, as usual, they’re clueless when it comes to “playing politics” and are about to end up flat on their backs…again.
They’re their own worst enemy. And Nevada conservatives and taxpayers keep paying the price.
Repeat after me: It’s not enough to simply elect more Republicans. We need to elect better ones, as well.
Or as Richard Viguerie (see links below) famously says, “It’s the primaries, stupid.”

About a hundred of us are gathering for a 5-day Caribbean cruise and training conference. Maybe an adult beverage or two. We’ll see how things go.
When I get back, I hope to finalize and be ready to launch a completely new campaign training/coaching program that will be unlike anything anyone else has ever done in politics.
It’ll be virtual and national. So any conservative candidate or campaign manager anywhere in the country will be able to participate.
