Patriot’s Day Celebration on April 19th

(Sara Michele Crusade/Examiner.com) – In commemoration of Patriot’s Day, the Southern Nevada Oath Keepers will be hosting a Patriot’s Day Celebration on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 7:00PM at the Bright Angel Church of Christ in North-West Las Vegas.

The event is free to the public, and will include a brief history and reading of the Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America (Declaration of Independence), the Bill of Rights, and Longfellow’s poem, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. The colors will be presented by the Marine League Honor Guard, and there will be two men’s choruses in patriotic song. There will also be an opportunity for those in attendance to swear an oath to the constitution.

Last year, the Oath Keepers hosted a Patriot’s Day celebration in a park which was well attended. This year, an indoor venue was chosen due to wind and county park noise restrictions.

Patriot’s Day honors the anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. On Patriot’s Day; April 19, 2009, Stewart Rhodes founded the Oath Keepers, an organization of military, veterans, and peace officers who continue to honor their oath to the United States Constitution, and who teach currently serving military about the meaning and gravity of the oath.

Bright Angel Church of Christ is located at; 8570 Bright Angel Way, Las Vegas, Nevada. It is located in Centennial Hills near North Durango & Tropical, and the Northern 215 Beltway.
