On Saturday, September 5, 2009, U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, officially presided over the “Nevada Voter Education Project Kick Off”, at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, with special guests and Democrat friends Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, State Assemblyman Ruben Kihuen, State Assemblyman Moises Denis and The Hispanic Institute, a Washington, D.C. based 501 (c) 3, not for profit organization, “dedicated to providing an effective education forum for an informed, empowered Hispanic America”.
Reid has been instrumental in the funneling of Federal tax dollars to this Hispanic group controlled exclusively by his cronies under the pretext of registering Hispanic voters in a “non-partisan’ way. It appears that “The Hispanic Institute”, whose Mission Statement calls for, “providing an effective education forum for an informed, empowered, Hispanic America”, estimates that Republican Hispanics are not important enough to be considered worthy of being part of the Voter Registration efforts being undertaken in Nevada.
Currently there are an estimated 70,000 unregistered eligible Hispanic voters in Nevada. It may be that The Hispanic Institute, under Reid’s control and guidance, is misusing its 501 (c) 3 status in order to exclude the participation of the State and Clark County Republican Parties and manipulate the $100K allocated to Nevada in favor of the Democrat Party.
“The program will include approximately 200 site registration events (10 events per weekend for twenty weeks). This effort will employ about thirty employees, (i.e., 20 registrars and 10 Team Leaders). Team Leaders will organize and coordinate the events, secure the event sites, and supervise the registrars”, in Clark County, where the majority of the targeted unregistered voters reside as well as in other northern counties. (THI Nevada Voter Registration Project 2010, p.3.)
Project Managers, Andres Gonzalez and Cuauhtémoc “Temo” Figueroa, have been Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee Hispanic Outreach Project and National Latino Vote Director for the Obama Presidential Campaign, respectively and heavily involved in organized labor political activities.
Neither the Clark County Republican Party nor local Republican leaders have been invited to participate in the program, nor been contacted by Harry Reid or The Hispanic Institute to share in the efforts to register the important potential local Hispanic voters in this community. Local Hispanic voters have the right to be educated in the values and issues of both parties equally and allowed to make a choice free of manipulations and disguised political pressure.
Non-partisan? Give us a break! Are Harry Reid’s tentacles grabbing all eligible Nevada Hispanics with Federal funds given under the guise of this organization founded by Democrats in the Obama administration? Or, is this yet another “ACORN” scandal, well-planned and funded to manipulate 2010 election results clearly configured to redirect the sinking popularity of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid?
