As you know, I’m avoiding “irrational exuberance” over the early voting numbers for Republicans, but they are what they are. And I’d MUCH rather be in the position we’re in than they’re in.
And if – *IF* – the numbers hold up, there’s a very good chance that Assembly Democrat Speaker Steve “Donut Boy” Yeager’s going down in flames. And, oh, what “joy” that would be!
People say Yeager’s a “nice guy.” Well, you know how they say nice guys finish. Let’s hope so. Cause he ain’t the “nice guy” he pretends to be. He’s an unscrupulous partisan with a cute smile.
I’ve always thought this district, Assembly District 9, was in play. Few others did.
But Erica Neely, his GOP opponent, was gonna need a few things to break her way. And they might have. She’s running neck-and-neck with Yeager in partisan turnout through yesterday.
This guy oversaw a “favor factory” in Carson City last session whereby some his Democrat caucus members were caught enriching themselves and/or their favored special interests.
In fact, after I filed an ethics complaint against one of them – Assemblywoman Michelle Gorelow – and it was publicized in the media, she opted to not run for re-election. And that seat is now ripe for flipping by Republican Dr. Rebecca Edgworth.
Oh, sorry. I meant “Doctor” Rebecca Edgeworth. At least according to Donut Boy.
Back to that in a minute…
I’m also hearing that Yeager is absolutely frothing at the mouth over the fact that the once-powerful Culinary Union chose NOT to endorse him this time. Even worse, the increasingly powerful Latin Chamber of Commerce also REFUSED to give him the nod.
That’s unheard of and a strong indication of just how bad his reign of error has been in Carson City.
Yeager’s also behind a pair of shady “scam” PACs that have been sending out mailers PRETENDING to be Republicans and attacking the GOP candidates in Assembly District 2 (Heidi Kasama) and Assembly District 4 (Lisa Cole).
And now one of his scam PACs is targeting Edgeworth, as well.
In an embarrassingly juvenile and amateurish mailer – using the ol’ “puppet on a string” theme that Dina Titus used on me way back in 1996 – Yeager’s scam PAC writes…
“Out-of-state, anti-abortion, billionaire extremists are bankrolling ‘Doctor’ Rebecca Edgeworth because they know she’ll listen to them and ban abortion in Nevada.”
Abortion, Abortion, Abortion! Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! Talk about a broken record. But when you got nothing else…
Fact is, abortion is NOT in jeopardy in Nevada. It’s a made-up issue for Democrats who think it will lead them to victory all across the nation like it did in 2022. But that issue was settled here LONG ago.
Back in the early 1990s, Nevada voters cemented abortion rights in Nevada law. And neither Rebecca Edgeworth nor Steve Yeager can do anything about it. Nor can any other legislator, governor, or congress-critter.
It can only be changed by another vote of the people. So…so much for that.
But notice how Yeager’s scam PAC put “Doctor” in quotation marks, leading the reader to think she’s a fake doctor. You know, like “Doctor” Jill Biden.
But Edgeworth is a REAL doctor, unlike “Doctor” Jill.
DOCTOR Edgeworth attended medical school at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine before completing her internal medicine residency training at University Medical Center in Las Vegas through the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
The blowback against Yeager and his scam PAC over the mailer was fast and furious.
“I bet (Yeager) wouldn’t put doctor in quotes if it was a man,” wrote Cole on Twitter/X.
“This is just sick!” wrote Assemblywoman Jill Dickman. “Didn’t think it was possible for Dems to sink any lower. Seems I was wrong.”
“Not only is (Edgeworth) a medical doctor,” noted Assemblywoman Danielle Gallant, “but she volunteers at a non-profit medical clinic offering free care to individuals unable to afford it.”
Gallant added: “Why are Yeager’s PAC’s only attacking Republican women? Is it a coincidence or is he just sexist?”
It’d be pure karma for Yeager to lose to a woman, wouldn’t it?
