(Chuck Muth) – Rather than lay off non-essential government employees like everybody else back in March, Nevada Gov. Sisolak and the Democrats on the unconstitutional Interim Finance Committee (IFC) on Monday completely drained the state’s rainy-day fund of over $400 MILLION.
And the robbers didn’t even wear face diapers!
Under these extraordinary circumstances, this decision should NOT have been made by only a handful of leadership-appointed legislators. If they wanted to suck the well dry, EVERY one of the 63 elected legislators should have made the decision and gone on record.
To their credit, the few Republicans (7 out of 20) on IFC voted against the raid. Observed Sen. James Settelmeyer…
“Partisan vote in Interim Finance Committee to empty the whole rainy day fund of $401,186,220. No defined amount provided; they just want it all. No PLAN in March for reductions. No PLAN in April for reductions. No PLAN in May for reductions.”
Of course not.
Sisolak’s had no plan for ANY of this – especially for dealing with the hundreds of thousands of Nevadans he’s put out of work and sent to the unemployment line. He’s been flying by the seat of his pants the whole way.
I guess the only silver lining here is that the longer Sisolak waits to make the unavoidable spending cuts, the bigger the spending cuts are going to be.
Hopefully that will mean fewer non-essential government inspectors and regulators to harass small business owners and taxpayers.

About that Congressional District 4 Race
This is a perfect example of why you should NOT vote early…
The revelation Friday of an extra-marital affair by Rep. Steve “Black Panther” Horsford (D-NV4) has given Republicans some optimism for re-taking this seat in November that wasn’t otherwise there.
So the choice for Republicans now shouldn’t be who the most conservative candidate is but who’s the most conservative Republican who can WIN this Democrat-majority district if a miracle occurs (like back in 2014).
As such, I’ve now narrowed down my choices to: (1) Lisa Song-Sutton, (2) Jim Marchant and (3) Sam Peters.
Not that the other Republicans running for this seat are bad people, bad conservatives or bad Republicans. They’re not.
In fact, I wish they all would have run for a legislative or local seat instead of trying to go straight to the top in Congress. Lord knows we need better conservatives in EVERY elected position.
But the general election is going to cost a lot of money. And if you can’t raise a sufficient amount for the primary, there’s no reason to believe that will change in the general. Song-Sutton, Marchant and Peters have demonstrated far better fundraising ability than the rest of the field.
About that Assembly District 2 Race
This is another example of why you should NOT vote early…
There are three Tax Pledge-signing Republicans running for Assembly District 2 (Clark County) to replace tax-hiking, back-stabbing RINO Assemblyman John Hambrick. I initially narrowed down my choice down to Erik Sexton and Jim Small.
I met with the third candidate, Heidi Kasama, a couple months ago and was very impressed.
However, she has since aligned herself EXTREMELY close to the Assembly Republican Caucus and the big-government liberal Republicans who control it. In fact, she left her original consultant and now has the caucus guys running her campaign. Very troubling.
I like Jim Small a LOT.
The crud being bandied around about him supposedly being a Democrat back in the 1970’s doesn’t bother me one bit. Former Democrats (I’m one of them from the early 80’s before Reagan showed me the light) are often the staunchest conservatives.
Kinda like how former cigarette smokers are the most rabid anti-smoking advocates.
However, I haven’t seen in Jim’s campaign what it it’s going take to hold this seat in November.
And I really like what I’d read and heard about Erik’s conservative bona fides.
But over the weekend a series of mailers detailing an eye-popping run-in with police officers, captured via body-cam video, related to his arrest a year ago is a game-changer.
Whatever the explanation or extenuating circumstances there might be, he never should have kept the details of this from his consultant. Maybe they could have inoculated against it. But now it’s too late.
As much as I believe the guy would be a solid conservative if elected, you have to get elected first. And that would be immeasurably harder now in the general election.
So I’m changing my position on AD2 to “undecided” for now. Let’s see how this shakes out and how each candidate handles their campaigns for another week or two.
About that Assembly District 40 Race
Back in 2015, then-Assemblyman P.K. O’Neill (Carson City) voted for the largest tax hike in Nevada history.
He was booted out of office in 2016. Now he’s trying to make a comeback and declares on his website: “We don’t need any new taxes that can strangle business.”
Anyone who believes THAT should have their head examined.
Recall that back in 2014, when he first ran for Assembly, P.K. O’Neill told Nancy Dallas in an interview: “There is an absolute need to defeat the Margins Tax. The tax is regressive and will destroy the State’s ability to keep, let alone attract, business.”
He then went on to vote for Gov. Brian Sandoval’s “Commerce Tax” – which was nothing more than the Margins Tax with a new name and a few tweaks. This man’s word cannot be trusted.
Going with Day Williams in this primary should be a no-brainer for any conservative.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“Why do I have to stay home just because are scared? How about stay home…. stay in house indefinitely, wear a mask, socially distance yourself from me, avoid restaurants, avoid baseball games, stay off the roads, avoid malls and beaches and parks, believe the made up death numbers, believe the media hype, Get your toxic vaccine while avoiding vitamin C, sunshine and the things God gave us to actually heal,
“I’m done playing dumb game. We are not ‘all in this together.’ I’m not wearing dumb tin foil hat anymore. I’m no longer going to be a prisoner of your fear. I’m no longer staying in my house or catering to because are scared. I’m not wearing a mask and I’m not staying 6 feet away from you anymore because I’m not afraid of you. You are not my enemy and if I get sick, it’s not because of , it’s because of me and my system, which not only have I been addressing for quite some time, but I also know how to treat if I get sick.
“This virus (or whatever it is) is already circulating. Millions of people have already encountered it, as it’s been circulating around the world probably since last September. You WILL have to confront this thing, if you haven’t already. There is no way around it, unless you lock yourself up in your house and it somehow doesn’t manage to hop on some mail or some groceries that you ordered online.
“ fear is not an excuse to destroy America. fear is not my fear and your fear does not have the right to interfere with my life, my job, my income or my future as a free American citizen. So if you’re scared, you can just put your tin foil hat on, or even wrap foil all around your whole body – or around your whole house if you wish – but please keep your fear contained to your little corner of the world and don’t contaminate me or my family or my Country. I copied & pasted this from Grey Havens’ page; it’s perfect.”
