Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch to Keynote 2012 Conservative Leadership Conference

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch to Keynote 2012 Conservative Leadership Conference

(Las Vegas, NV) – The Conservative Leadership Conference announced today that longtime conservative U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, Utah Republican, will deliver the keynote address at the conference on Saturday afternoon, June 9.

“Sen. Hatch has long been considered a leading authority on the federal judiciary and has often been speculated as a possible Supreme Court nominee,” said Chuck Muth, president of Citizen Outreach and co-host of the event. “With two big SCOTUS decisions on ObamaCare and illegal immigration expected over the next few weeks, Sen. Hatch’s appearance and remarks couldn’t be timelier.”

Now in his sixth term, Sen. Hatch is the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Finance and a member of the Judiciary Committee; the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; and the Joint Committee on Taxation. He supports repeal of the unconstitutional ObamaCare individual mandate, securing the nation’s borders, stopping the forced unionization of American workers, and bringing fiscal restraint back to Washington.

Among Sen. Hatch’s legislative initiatives are the Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, the Strengthening Our Commitment to Legal Immigration and America’s Security Act, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act, and the Utah School Trust Lands Exchange Act.

The Utah Senator faces a competitive June 26 Republican primary challenge from a tea party-backed candidate, although Sen. Hatch himself has the public support of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a national tea party favorite. If re-elected this year, he will be the most senior Republican in the United States Senate.
