Victor Joecks’ Double Standard: Housing Solutions Only Count When They’re Not Lombardo’s

Posted By

(John Burke | Better Nevada PAC) – There’s been some misinformation from Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Victor Joecks about Governor Joe Lombardo’s proposals for attainable housing.

He’s tried to portray them as liberal, but in reality they’re in line with numerous conservative leaders, including President Trump and (Victor’s favorite governor) Ron DeSantis.

Like Gov. Lombardo, Governor DeSantis has focused on public-private partnerships, streamlining processes and reducing regulatory barriers, and allocating large sums of money for  housing development.

Victor didn’t seem to have a problem with Governor DeSantis’ Live Local Act, but for some reason he’s up in arms about Lombardo’s plan.

And here’s what President Trump’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary has supported:

“President Donald J. Trump’s pick to lead housing development intends to lean into the Opportunity Zones program created in Trump’s first term, which dangled big tax incentives for developers”

Sounds pretty familiar.

Another one of Victor’s favorite governors, Glenn Youngkin, also had a similar proposal to provide assistance for affordable housing:

“Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced more than $139 million in affordable housing and special needs housing loans, funding 41 projects aimed to create and preserve nearly 3,000 housing units across the commonwealth.”

Victor is all over the place. Loves DeSantis and Youngkin’s housing policies but attacks Governor Lombardo’s when he does the same thing.

Here’s an idea, Victor – Google a few facts before you write your next column.
