(Nevada Policy) – We’re now entering the last full week of the legislative session — and it’s go time.
With the final gavel dropping on June 2nd, we’re expecting a rush of committee hearings, floor votes, and eleventh-hour amendments.
Here’s what’s on our radar:
Big Bills To Watch Out For
With major policy and spending proposals moving quickly, here some that are yet to be scheduled for their second house committee hearings and floor votes.
These are some of the biggest policy priorities of the 83rd session and we are laser-focused:
❌ AB238 – The Summerlin Studios film tax credits proposal aimed to draw Sony and Warner Brothers to Las Vegas.
❌ SB220 – The Senate version of film tax credits proposing a different payment scheme with UNLV film school proposal.
✅ AB584 – The Governor’s signature K-12 education bill focused on expanding school choice.
❌ SB460 – Majority Leader Cannizzaro’s omnibus education overhaul focuses on oversight and limits charter schools.
✅ AB143 – Enacts the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Interstate Compact to address the professional shortage.
✅ AB163 – Enacts the Interstate Counseling Compact to address the shortage of mental health professionals.
These are the heavy-hitters. Keep an eye out — many could come up for a vote at a moment’s notice.
On the Docket: Hearings This Week
So far, only two key bills are scheduled for hearings — and we’ll be there:
✅ SB240 – This bill lowers the initial business registration fees from $200 to $100, easing the entry into the market for new entrepreneurs.
- Upcoming hearing on May 26th at 8:00am.
- Email the committee.
✅ SB464 – Enacts the Interstate Mining Compact, joining Nevada the list of 25 other states.
- Upcoming hearing on May 28th at 1:00pm.
⏱️ The Final Countdown ⏱️
