Wheeler Challenges Opponent Kite to Sign Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Wheeler Challenges Opponent Kite to Sign Taxpayer Protection Pledge
N&V Staff
March 20, 2012

(Gardnerville, NV) – March 19, 2012 – Jim Wheeler, Republican candidate for Nevada Assembly District 39, released the following statement.

During the 2011 Nevada Legislative Session, while I was at the Legislature lobbying against new taxes, Assemblyman Kelly Kite, the incumbent, voted to extend the $620 Million in ‘sun-setting’ taxes.

Now, Governor Brian Sandoval and the Democrats have decided to try to extend these same taxes again, possibly even making them permanent.

I publicly ask the incumbent if he will once again vote for these job-killing taxes, or will he stand up with the majority of the constituents of the 39th Assembly District and fight these new taxes?

My own position is crystal clear: “The voters don’t want it, so I won’t support it.” Unlike my opponent, I proudly signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which states: “I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.” This means not only will I vote to carry out my fellow citizen’s wishes; I will lobby hard against these new taxes with my fellow legislators. I ask the incumbent to publicly declare where he stands on this issue and to join me in signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Jim Wheeler is a candidate for the State Assembly in District 39.
