(Chuck Muth) – It’s “Mask Freedom Day” in Nevada!
Gov. Steve Sisolak announced this morning that you no longer are required by the government to “mask up” and wear face diapers in public.
Make no mistake. The governor said the “emergency” and the pandemic aren’t over.
Which means we on the “right” were right in what we’ve always said: Masks don’t work.
So what changed?
Two things…
1.) Mid-term election polling showing voters are sick and tired of these nanny-state orders.
2.) The trucker “freedom convoy” in Canada.
Sisolak does NOT want a bunch of truckers and supporters surrounding the governor’s mansion and honking their horns. That wouldn’t be good for his re-election chances.
Sisolak’s Olympic Gold flip-flop, which tosses aside CDC “guidance,” has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with “science.”
It’s pure POLITICAL science. As it always has been.
Either way, enjoy Mask Freedom Day.
Oh, and by the way…
Every Nevada Republican candidate under the sun today will be taking credit for pressuring Sisolak to finally end his mask mandate. Most never said a word…until word of the decision was leaked yesterday and announced this morning.
Ya wanna know who can take a legitimate bow?
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who was roasted on a spit by CNN for voicing opposition to the Sisolak Shutdown in April 2020. Goodman took the slings and arrows from the left long before it was “cool” to oppose The Tyrant.
Assemblywoman Annie Black (now running for Congress) who openly defied the mask mandate during the 2021 legislative session and was summarily banned from the floor of the Assembly for doing so.
Assembly candidate Melissa Blundo, who co-founded the No Mask Nevada PAC and led rallies and protests against Sisolak’s mask mandates for almost two years now.
And attorneys Sigal Chattah (running for attorney general) and Joey Gilbert (running for governor) for successfully suing to stop Sisolak’s shutdown of churches and who still have lawsuits pending against the mask mandates for kids in schools (which may be moot now).
Those are the real HEROES who have been on the frontlines in the war against King Sisolak’s reign of terror. If you see ‘em, give ‘em a big ol’, mask-free hug!
Heller’s Born-Again Conservatism
“Republican” gubernatorial candidate Dean Heller now wants you to believe he’s the only “proven” conservative in the race. And if you buy that one…
At a GOP gubernatorial debate hosted by THE Clark County Republican Party – the one run by Jesse Law – Heller referred to passage of then-Gov. Brian Sandoval’s largest tax hike in Nevada history back in 2015 as “the biggest embarrassment of the Republican Party.”
An argument can certainly be made for that.
However, where was Heller when that tax hike was being shoved through? Why didn’t he publicly and vocally oppose it back THEN?
Because his born-again conservatism is purely political now that he’s running for governor. If he was truly a principled Republican, he would have been leading the charge against it as Nevada’s top elected Republican six years ago.
He didn’t.
This is typical of Heller. Remember, during the 2016 presidential campaign Heller said he was 100% against the election of Hillary Clinton and 99% against Donald Trump. Said he was going to vote for “None of the Above.”
Only after Trump won the election and Heller was facing a stiff GOP primary challenge from Danny Tarkanian for his Senate seat did he “fess up” and claim, without evidence or proof, that he did, indeed, vote for Trump.
And if you buy that one…
Truth is, Heller was an original “Never Trumper” and teamed up with Sandoval for a dog-and-pony show where they came out AGAINST repealing ObamaCare. Back then, the two were joined at the hip…and by his silence, one can certainly argue Heller supported Sandoval’s tax hike.
Heller’s no conservative. As the Las Vegas Sun editorialized last week, he “blows wherever the political winds take him.”
Nevada Republicans would have to have a political death wish to nominate him for governor.
In Nevada’s Gender-Card Dame-Game, GOP Holds 4 Aces
Identity politics is stupid.
Democrats love to play this game. Vote for Candidate A because he’s black. Vote for Candidate B because she’s a woman. Vote for Candidate C because he’s Jewish. Vote for Candidate D because she’s gay. Vote for Candidate E because he’s a she or she’s a he, depending on how he/she wishes to “identify.”
Republicans tend to play a different game. Vote for candidates A, B, C, D and E because they’ll vote to keep government limited, taxes low and defend individual liberties regardless of their race, gender, religion, national heritage or sexual orientation/identification.
Democrats judge candidates by what they are. Republicans judge candidates by what they believe. Democrats judge candidates by the color of their skin. Republicans judge candidates by the content of their character.
Which do you think is the “American Way”?
Anyway, back in 2018 Nevada became the “Dame-Game” champion. After a pair of appointments, not elections, women ended up outnumbering men in the Nevada Legislature. And the corporate media went into full rapture…

Election ’22 Update
Give the Joey Gilbert campaign for governor credit. After recognizing the weakness of his 2021 fundraising numbers, the campaign apparently refocused its efforts on raising money. His campaign announced on Wednesday that they’d raised $100,000 in the first nine days of February.
Still a long way to go to catch up with the rest of the field, but at least it appears they now have their priorities straight. Gonna need dough to finish strong.
On the other hand, the campaign press release referred to Gilbert as the “gubernatorial front-runner.” Under no metric – either fundraising or polling or name ID in the general population – is that true. Making such a wild claim only undermines the campaign’s credibility.
