(Mark Noonan) – From the Reno Gazette Journal:
“…Distressed properties posted 904 unit sales in Reno and Sparks from April to June, according to data from the Northern Nevada Regional MLS. The sales represent about 60 percent of the market in both cities, up from 55 percent during the same period last year. Short sales accounted for the bulk of distressed properties sold — about 38 percent of total sales…”
Meanwhile, over at the Nevada Appeal I read that 3,000 people applied for 130 jobs at the new Kohl’s. And it seems that most of those jobs were part time.
President Obama and Co have been out and about touting the Recovery Summer. They are telling us that we’ve turned the corner; things are getting better; things would have been much worse if we hadn’t bailed out banks with money borrowed from China. And what has Harry Reid been up to? Well, when not slandering Sharron Angle, he has been getting Uncle Sam to borrow even more money – now to keep government bureaucrats on the payroll.
Oh, yes, I know: Reid and the rest say the recent money fest was to pay for teachers, firefighters and cops. But that, my friends is just another lie added to the Democrat pile. We don’t have to fire a single cop, firefighter or teacher to make up our budget shortfall but if you want to save a bunch of useless government workers, you put their budget under the label of “teacher” to sell it to the public.
Recent information on the larger economy indicates things are getting very bad, very fast. The other day I heard that the FDIC is not closing insolvent banks because it lacks the money to do so. This is what we’re reduced to: in such bad shape that we’re living in a land of economic make believe and just hoping that some how, some way, things will magically get better.
They won’t. Not as long as the likes of Harry Reid are running the show. He, to be sure, is not the one person responsible for this mess. But he has been in office for decades – and in high office. He’s been there while the rules were bent and at last broken and all our wealth was frittered away in government spending. Now, we’re bankrupt – and living in a State locked in to Great Depression-like economics.
Reid wants us to re-elect him. Why? Because for Reid its only about himself, his family and his cronies. It must always be remembered that Reid has become a multi-millionaire while “serving” the public. His family has also prospered, as has Reid’s friends. Leaving office means losing the meal ticket – especially now that it looks like Rory will be at least delayed in becoming the replacement Reid.
If we do re-elect Reid (and the rest of the Ruling Class), then we’ll deserve what’s coming to us. Poverty and want will be our just desert if we don’t find it in ourselves to turn out Reid. This summer as things turn from bad to worse, it is time we all concentrated our minds on what is happening. The future of our great State and our nation is at stake. We do the right thing, and we can survive and eventually recovery – we do the wrong thing, and corrupt leaders like Reid will just keep looting the nation until there is nothing left.
