(Nancy Dallas) – I feel like Nevada is living in a vacuum governed by a publicly-elected, seldom-seen shadow Governor.
We see and hear from him about once a week at what is called a ‘press conference’. He speaks from an echo chamber located somewhere unbeknownst to most as we anxiously await some defining information from him in regards to our future status – some sort of a definitive plan specific to Nevada and its varied demographics.
Unlike our President, who faces the hostile, bigoted press day in and day out, apparently our seldom-seen, shadow Governor will only allow filtered questions from a very select few. So to this point we have no idea what may lie ahead or any info in regards to specifics as to who is being diagnosed as ill with the virus or how they may have possibly contracted it.
It’s as if the shadow Governor and health officials believe public ignorance is bliss?
I don’t. I believe the less the public knows about the demographics of this virus the more scared and anxious they will become. That, apparently, is exactly what our ‘leadership’ wants and what they are achieving.
We see numbers posted daily from the various designated regions, with only age and county listed. The ages of those infected and deceased from this very contagious virus covers all ranges. However, there is a wide differential between the number of cases in rural counties and the two most populous counties. There are also differences between rural counties with larger cities and those very rural areas with no town of any great size.
A question with no apparent answer to this point is: Will the phantom Governor, when and if he ever does, actually consider or ignore these differences, or is he going to lump this state into a one size fits all web?
To help relieve the growing stress and frustrations, the public needs information in regards to:
- What percentage of the infected have had contact with care or rehab facilities?
- What percentage of the infected have been in a jail or prison?
- What percentage of the infected have underlying conditions?
- What percentage of the infected have drug related issues?
- What percentage of the infected could be designated as homeless?
- What percentage of the infected recently traveled or had out of state visitors?
- And, considering what the news is reporting on such things, what percentage of those designated as COVID-19 deaths actually died from other causes, but the virus was detected in their system?
Lots and lots of questions. Lots and lots of rumors. (Is the shadow Governor actually using some sly methods to delete negative comments and add supportive comments on his public web forums? I really do hope this is not true. How shameful if it is!)
Few, if any, answers from our “leader”!!! We deserve better. The blame for the increasing protests and lack of compliance with the current edicts lies directly on his shoulders.
Nevadans have tried to comply with the ordered confinement, but they now need information to help gain a sense of hope and direction. Governor, your complete lack of communication and leadership in regards to this pandemic is pathetic. Governor, you should be ashamed and embarrassed.
